2009 BMW 750i: Tired

750 tire 2.jpg

Two days out of service (Thanks, Bryn.) and one, $297.72 (shipped) 245/45R19 Goodyear Excellence run flat from Tirerack, we're back in business.

Stokes, as well as four local BMW dealerships, were out of stock on this tire and wanted a week to get one. Tirerack had just a few left and we had it in hand the next day. Our guys at Stokes charged us $27.25 for install and disposal.

Total: $324.97

OK, there has to no longer be any question that the 750i has a serious tire problem. Other testing publications have replaced tires as well. For this class of car it is totally unacceptable to inconvenience the typically busy and productive owners with this kind of constant problem.

Tire OEM, BMW, or a combination of both at fault? You can bet the enraged 7-series owners will place the blame directly on BMW. I hope they have an appropriate response.

A friend will soon be getting ready to replace his previous-generation 7-series, and I suspect he will shop elsewhere this time.

Mike, it's the car not Bryn. Some cars are just tire eaters.

The sad thing is I actually looked on tirerack for a thicker tire and could find nothing.

I have to say as much as I love BMW I hated, loathed, despised my run flat tires. I had to replace them after 20,000 miles. I have never really had to consider tires until my BMW. I think they made a serious mistake by making run flat tires standard. I have recently learned that I am part of a class action. BMW has been sued and is settling with owners regarding these tires. I am currently looking for another vehicle and although I would love to own another BMW, these tires are seriously causing me to consider another company. Audi is making some nice cars and I hear their cars come with spare tires.

i'm stunned you're giving goodyear another penny. how many more problems until you replace them with something decent?

Runflats... Nothing more to say. The best thing that ever happened to Audi.

Sighs....I never like seeing a high-end German luxury vehicle out of commission, especially when the causes are TIRES.

You'd do folks a favor by just switching brands to see if it is the tires themselves that suck, or the car, tire size and suspension that make the most difference.

Looks to me like "Excellence" might be a stretch. I think Goodyear jinxed themselves on this one!

We don't look for tires at the BMW dealership anymore, they can't compete...on the past 4 sets of tires we've bought, the dealer either doesn't have them in stock or are priced 50% higher than anyplace else. ...The Tire Rack Rocks!
