Two things:
1) Can't figure out what's causing that rattle on the passenger side. But I hear it clearly even when I am flooring our 2009 BMW M3. It's definitely not the passenger-side seatbelt. It sounds like the door is rattling, like when you don't close it all the way. But I checked and they were both securely shut. Hmm.
2) Even though the M3 comes with a slew of seat controls to ensure that every driver is comfortable behind its wheel, for some reason they just weren't working for me. I couldn't seem to adjust the seat so that I was close enough and low enough to operate the clutch pedal. The thigh extender wasn't extended and I pressed the seat down button as low as it would go. It's funny because I don't recall it being this uncomfortable the last time I drove it back in November.
Since I wasn't comfortable and my left foot was just hovering in the air, my clutch work suh-hucked. Felt like a newbie all over again when just the night before I had a rip-roaring time with our Mazdaspeed 3. I know it's just me since none of the other drivers have complained about this. But I figured it was something to point out. Any theories...besides mean ones, that is?

I just had the same issue in my personal car. I drove my Integra in to the office this morning and I couldn't get comfortable. I've had that car for 10 years but it felt like I just bought a new used car. Everything felt so far away even though it's a small car. It's like I shrunk or something. So, I know how you feel. -- Donna

Regarding the rattle, my E90 has one that comes from the passenger side headrest. It does it reliably when the seat is empty and can be eliminated by folding/pushing down the headrest all the way.

Your issue with the door could be the door latch needs to be adjusted. Had this problem with my Mazda3. Annoying as hell over rough roads as the door would rattle and buzz.

I thought the same thing. Those pedals look so pedestrian... like they're out of a Toyota Corolla. The dead pedal is by far the best looking object in that picture. I'm all for simplicity and seem to be one of the few who likes BMW's original, easy, and yes, old gauge cluster. But can they please smash the piggy bank and get some metal pedals for their M cars???

Not sure about the noise. As for the seat issue have your ahh.. dimensions changed since November? I am not being mean, but I noticed when my wife gained a few she was constantly complaining that her car seat felt uncomfortable. She also had a manual. I suggested it was that the seat probably lost some of it's shape due to the amount of miles on the car (167K). She accepted this response, phew!

Compare the adjustment range on your car to that of another (on a dealer lot). Maybe something is gumming up the works so the range is not as extensive as before.
Try to use the spare key. This will not have any memory settings for the seat on it.
Ride your Vespa more!

Don't know what to say on the seat comfort or lack of other than I thought the seats in our 328 were quite comfortable (I know the M has different ones but still, they should be even better). Maybe it is because they have too many adjustments making it hard to find the magic combo that you had once found? If no one else uses the memory seat feature you can set it for your preference - assuming you find comfort again. Seat/mirror memory is a must in my wife's car - she shops petite and I shop big and tall so the memory function is so handy and appreciated.
Re: the rattle at WOT - Does the M3 use any baffle type of device(s) in the exhaust near the exhaust tips. I know another Bimmer that had this and it went bad, that one rattled under heavy acceleration and..... at idle.
Good luck on both accounts.

Complaining about no metal pedals? Seriously?
I have them in my GTI (albeit with little rubber nubs on them), and you know what... THEY SUCK. They're slippery in the rain and snow or with leather-soled shoes and they can be squeaky when wet too. How many people do you think spend their time bent over looking at shiny metal pedals?
Honestly, stop finding stupid little crap to complain about. This is as bad as some of the stupid crap people whine about with the Camaro.
These aren't race cars. Who gives a sh!t if they have metal pedals?
...and yes, rattles suck. my seat frame creaked like crazy during sharp left turns for about a month and then stopped completely... sometimes you just never know.

My e90 has a rattle in the passenger door. I have yet to completely figure out what it is but I think it may be the door frame rattling against the body structure. That or it could be the latch. All I know is it drives me nuts!

Boo hiss! I get the "who swapped my driver's seat in the middle of the night?!" every so often and I'm sorry to say I have zero useful ideas on how to fix it. \=
…well, maybe one. Sometimes I put the seat & seat back alllll the way back, get out, get back in and readjust.
@ zcalvert: word! I have the nub-pedals in my Si, they make me crazy in the rain (I live in Seattle…you do the math).

Stingray, seriously, what are you doing -- channeling 1487? Metal pedals suck -- they squeak under wet shoes and are slippery at best even when they don't have rubber nubs. Do you honestly think that BMW would have passed up the chance to charge its customers more money for some "Bavarian Ingot" metal pedals? Thank goodness they kept the rubber pedals -- it is a proper driver interface for daily driving.
Caroline, there is no explanation. Are you sitting differently? Do you have on different shoes/clothes? Sometimes, my driving position is completely thrown off by the bulkiness of my clothes or whether I'm wearing boots or shoes.

Agreed, I HATE the metal pedal("peddles" for those of you from Mazdas247.com) on my miserable MS3. I much prefer the rubber pedal pads on my BMWs and my Wrangler.

135i has rubber pedals, my C230 has metal ones with nubs. I don't dislike them. Honestly who gives a crap? I can tell you that the metal ones in the C230 don't make it more of a car than the 135i - not by a long shot. lol

My 06 Civic SI has metal pedals. I thought they looked great when I bought it, and liked them.
81k miles later, I don't like them. Slippery when wet/snow. They are almost always dirty looking and a pain to clean. Not as pleasant during the summer when you slide a flip-flop off to drive barefoot.
I want some nice clean all hard-rubber pedals. My Subaru legacy GT has them, and I think they work better.
So yeah, I don't need them. Now that dead pedal is a nice blend of metal and rubber. Maybe the main pedals could have metal surrounds and rubber pads.

Metal pedals do indeed suck when using a clutch....with an auto I think they look nice.....what I hate is that 1975 El Dorado gas pedal with its bottom stuck to the floor.......that is just hideous and I have always hated the look and feel of them. Seriously all it needs is a strip style speedo and a bench seat to complete the look......and yes I know that Porches use them too but they look dumb also.

Gotta chime in on the metal pedals (or more accurately - uncovered metal pedals). I had them on one car and that car was the ONLY car that I've had that my foot routinely slipped off the clutch pedal. Never again. (For those who are interested, it was a 2004 Dodge SRT-4.)

2 things:
1) those pedals are deliciously close together and on a level plane for easy heel-toe work.
2) "Metal" (aren't they all?) pedals are lousy and pretty much just for looks. For hard track driving your feet slip all over the place on them.
