After getting the S5 cleaned up over the weekend, it looked too good to get swiped by some contractor in a dually, so when I stopped by the local Lowe's to buy a few things I decided to put it where it would be safe.
That meant a slightly longer walk to the store, but it was worth it. Trust me, seeing that thing sitting out in the lot on the way back made me remember why people buy cars like the S5 in the first place. If I could, I would.

I would have placed it further away. :-) Some guy in a F350 may decide to park next to you.
I do agree on how nice it is to see a great looking car parked in the distance. I felt the same way about my MS3 and now my Ebony Black 6 s GT.

You don't have to walk so far if you park across multiple parking spots.

Too scared? That was a bit too far away.
Someone here is comparing the "beauty" of an MS3 vrs an audi S5? What u guys think?

As plain as the interior is, the exterior is beautiful. Pictures don't do it justice. It has a great stance and is always a head turner.

The comp between MS3 and the Audi is fair, some cars ignite different emotions i suppose lol i mean its something you can be proud of, this also varies with age. Im 19 and i have the new jeep grand Cherokee, i am always happy to see my car even knowing i could have went other cars in the 32K range. ...the 93 aero thing is only slightly misleading, i am infact more of a jeep fan.

I don't think so; I bought my 2007 MS3 in spite of its styling- which I think most resembles a four-wheeled Twinkie.
Comparing the MS3 to the S5 is like comparing Rosie O'Donnell to Scarlett Johansson

Definitely worth the walk, Just park farthest away from the store. I usually take up four spaces when I park, I assumed the "x" that's made in the middle of the four spaces is where your supposed to park, or next to a concrete post so no one can park on one side of me, or Horizontally across the spaces, that's good to. Full disclosure, I drive an A4, guess that makes me an a****le by default. Whats funny is people still park next to me, I think they assume I take good care of my car and wont dent there car.

I think someone here needs to brush up on reading comprehension. He didn't compare the MS3 to the alleged, so-called "beauty" of the s5. He simply said it's nice to see a great looking car parked in the distance, and that car happened to be the MS3, and now the Mz6.
Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so even if he HAD compared the two cars, that's his right. Especially since not everyone has lust, or even like, for the WAY overrated audi.

I respectfully disagree. Many car forums I frequent unequivocally agree that this is a sure-fire way to get your car keyed.

+1 here in Jersey as well.
I am one who has always parked away and walked but I just look for the good spots, on the ends etc. I agree that taking up multiple spots usually annoys someone and maybe to the point of deliberately damaging your car - at least around here. Heck, park far enough away and/or really cheat over in an end spot and you might return to find someone parked on top of you (or worse), just to be a di_k.
I walked out of a Home Depot one day the same time as another guy - turned out we had both parked our trucks a distance away from other cars. His was "just" a base model F350 and someone had dented the side of it while he was in the store - this guy was so upset. Mine was fine, it must have happened before I parked there. Mine is far from a base model - "they" would have had more "fun" with mine.

You don't have to take up multiple spots to get your car keyed. Just parking far away like the S5 in the picture is enough to get it keyed. Sad, but true.

I'm amazed you didn't return to find a mid-70s, post-demolition derby Nova parked so close you couldn't use the driver's door to get in. That seems the inevitable outcome when I park away from other cars. It's a security measure. You may not know this, but your typical car thief making a bee-line for an old Chevy with broken locks, a missing window, and an ignition that can be started with a flathead screwdriver, will invariably ignore the easy target for a late-model German car that has a state of the art security system with satellite tracking that takes a $2000 laptop and Electrical Engineering degree to get into. I've heard this several times, so it must be true.

i thought i was the only person dumb enough to park right up next to A-holes who take up multiple spaces. seems like expensive SUVs in the Boston area love to do that most. i didn't know what "hard to find parking" really meant until i moved there.
now i live somewhere that allows me to park like your S5. yay

I usually make it a habit to park in a corner spot or next to another "nice" looking car (new car or luxury cars). Parking next to a nice car means that the other driver, passengers generally will not want to dent theirs....or yours. When all else fails I am parking out there with the Audi S5...besides the walk is good exercise!

Actually I do think the MS3 and Mz6 offer styling that is as sophisticated as that of the Audi. The MS3 and Mz6 possess well-proportioned and curvaceous sheetmetal. Take the front fenders of both cars and how the design flows from front to back. When I look at my Mazda's from a distance (even my wife's 5) I feel a positive emotional response. Personally I think Mazda offer 99% of what the Audi offers at a budget price. No other AFFORDABLE manufacturer IMO offers such compelling alluring designs for the money. Defintely European sophistication on a budget. Oh and I'll also say that while I liked previous Audi interiors I found the interior of the newer models (drove an top of the line A4) a bit too claustraphobic. While materials quality in the Audi's is certainly a step or two better than my Mz6 GT, the Mazda feels much more open and comfortable. IMO

A twinkie?? You've got to be kidding.:-) You may not like the styling but to say that the MS3 is as homogenously shaped as a twinkie is a bit of a stretch. Those front fenders and the hood flow perfectly into the doors and rear fenders. In fact I think the Ms3 and the Audi's fenders are pretty similar in the way the nose perfectly flows into the wheel arches and doors. They both share similar sophisticated curvature- especially when viewed from the side 3/4's (similar to the Audi pict above).
About the only aspect of the MS3 design that could be considered less than elegant is the way the rear hatch integrates with the rest of the design. But even that design detail is not deserving of the Rosie O'Donnell comment.
But hey, as other's have said beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I/m of the opinion that for the money my Mazda's offer as much eye candy any expensive Euro marque.

I'll just say this: My MS3 has NEVER been a car that I stop and look at one more time before I leave the garage- and I never felt the desire to look out my office window to check on it. The last two cars that evoked those kinds of feelings were my 1988 M6(which I stupidly sold), and my 1995 Club Sport- which has replaced the MS3 as my daily driver(unless the roads are salted, in which case I take the MS3).

i haven't stopped to look at a mazda 3 or really most cars, but i'm around a lot of pretty expensive cars. the way the new 3 looks though and even the old one would at least get a glance though.
the new 3 looks quite distinctive and is a head turner, but in a different way from the s5 obviously.
in my work garage there are all sorts of high end luxury cars, and the ones i always notice first are people who have e92 bmws, the new C classes, and one guy who has a 370z.
but oddly the more boring sedans like our CEOs LS460 usually just blend in so its definitely something that only some cars have.... though i do have to say, one guy has a brand new CTS-V and that thing is just plain a head turner. As is a guy who has a new S4.
Theres just something about some cars that give them that ability.. No one at work has an S5 or A5 in our lot oddly but theres tons of e92 coupes. though the a5/s5 imho is much hotter ... i thought about buying one but it was a little impractical and expensive.
