New car in the fleet. Yay!
We bought an ice blue 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid sedan.
It has a 156-horsepower gasoline engine and when combined with the electric motor can produce a net combined 191 hp.
Features include a navigation system, rearview camera, blind-spot monitor, cross traffic warning, Sony 12-speaker audio system, and leather-trimmed seats with front heaters.

I'm pretty interested to see how this one turns out because it's a hybrid that doesn't "look like a hybrid", know what I mean?
Plus, given its larger size, it'll be interesting to see how a hybrid with fuller proportions performs in terms of gas mileage and such in the long run.

Nice to see a hybrid in the fleet!
What happens with the toyota prius?

DBM89: You no longer hear about the Prius, and no one knows why, not even the Edmunds crew. That's why they're so quiet about it. Some say the Prius is in the stages of having a future comeback, starting with a soon-to-be-released studio album produced by Timbaland. Others say you can still hear its back-up warning beeps if you stand alone in the middle of a Whole Foods parking lot, under a full moon, at the stoke of midnight, with a granola bar and a copy of Celine Dion's greatest hits in your coat pocket.
;-)
So was this the car that was in the Fry's parking lot pic posted a while back?

Why did you want a stripped down model? IL almost always gets higher trim lines and navigation but they wanted a base model Fusion. Don't get that at all.
Get an Equinox/Terrain next- stay focused on vehicles under $35k. Stay away from low volume, pricey impractical vehicles like the FX. Please do NOT get an X6 or ZDX although I'm sure you wont refuse them if they are offered for free.

I'm very interested to read about this vehicle. On paper, it seems like Ford knocked one out of the park - I'm curious to see if it will be true!

Yeah, you listened! Love the color.

Thanks for getting this, it's at the top of my list. I wish you had gotten a base one, just because that's what I'd have to get, that's the only way to avoid the mandatory sunroof that comes with all option packages. I'd prefer one like yours, just minus the sunroof. I gotta have the headroom

@vt8919 & DBM89 & anyone else that can't do a little research:
The Prius & RX 400h are in the fleet to test the hybrids battery life. If there are problems with the batteries, I am sure we will hear about it. I am not surprised that the editors are tired of answering your emails and comments about them because you are all to lazy to go back and read the introductions to those vehicles. Honestly, who wants to answer all of your emails and take time out of writing new blogs when you, the reader, could just READ.
I am looking forward to reading about the Fusion Hybrid; I've heard good things about it.

I never really thought much of the Fusion either going cheap with the Focus or going full size with the Taurus. This will get interesting.

Nice choice, I'm interested in how it performs. I rented a Fusion back when they first came out and was not impressed but chalked it up to being a beat on and base model rental.

This should be interesting.

I'll be curious to see how the fusion matches up with the Jetta TDI they had not too long ago. Not only from a fuel efficiency POV, but also from a performance (objective and subjective) and relaibility/quality POV. The Jetta did quite well. In any case, I think Ford is on to something here, although a Diesel engine from Europe in the Fusion would be nice too.

@1487- Maybe they wanted to get the base model due to the MSRP. I agree, most Fusion Hybrid buyers would probably opt for a loaded version. Who knows, most of IL's vehicles are loaded out. Maybe they wanted to change it up abit....

I hope the Fusion holds up as well as the recent Fords in the fleet. I do expect a few more problems just because it is a new and complicated model.....oh and I hate the color...you should have got the Smokestone.
bc1960 says:

Smokestone is not in the subset of colors available in the hybrid trim. Only the 4-step grey scale, Light Ice Blue, and Atlantis Green.
