Sounds pretty good. I think these types of videos should be done for each vehicle. Half the part of owning the vehicle are the sounds that they make. Perhaps there could be some videos to see how the engine sounds/performs through various engine loads/throttle applications.

Does it always rev like that when starting up? That could get annoying.

Just kidding! :)

It sounds like a Dyson vac......what did it sound like when the tranny went out?

Yeah, you should do this type of video for the FX.

wish you guys did this for the STI when you had it.... or maybe you did and I missed it.

I picked up a 2009 WRX sedan and got the factory SPT catback exhaust put on it and that thing definitely makes some noise when you start it up.

all that aside though, I think the VQ37 sounds pretty good. I don't think it sounds as bad as a lot of the automotive press says it does, but of course, judging a car's sound is at least partially subjective.

A woman's pretty voice will always trump the sound a car makes. Always.

It sounds like you just started a 4Runner

Hey Bodyblue,

Have you ever made an interesting or relevant post on this board? I'm just wondering because all I ever see from you are snide comments and BS. I'm just wondering what great gift of intuition gives you the right to be a complete ass all of the time? If I recall correctly the tranny issue with Edmund's 370Z was taken care of by Nissan (as well as it should have been) so your incessant attempts to bring it up in every Z post is boring, immature, and frankly pathetic. We get it, you don't like this car. We also understand you to be an arrogant prick. There is no reason for you to post here anymore, thanks.

"A woman's pretty voice will always trump the sound a car makes. Always."

Absolutely.

It does sound a bit loud when revved in that video, but it also sounds pretty muscular. So, probably would depened on the person's mood at the time. I'd like to hear the motor at high revs while driving, to get an idea of how bad (or not bad) that the VQ37 sounds at that point.

Very VQ-ish at first

Are we going to get the video of the harsh engine note at high rpms when driving?

zoomzoom22 says:

Does Infiniti do anything to make the exhaust sound different than the Z, because my friend has a G37S and it definitely has a deeper burble/less vacuum-like sound to it at startup.

Both engines sound good, though....can we get a video of the Z at high RPM's (because that's what everybody complains about)?

Honestly I'd rather listen to Donna. She's has a smooth and soothing voice.

Donna,

Thanks for the sound/video. Its great to hear the VQ start up. I enjoy it every time I get in my car.

In all fairness, I drive my car 2 - 3 days a week - not a daily driver. I travel for work and drive more miles in rentals than I do in my 370Z. Perhaps this is why I don't mind, rather enjoy, the sound of the Z throughout the powerband. Instead of whiny, underpowered I4s of midsized rental vehicles, the 370 makes the weekends fun & exciting. However, this also leads me to believe that if I drove the Z every day, I may have a different view on the road noise of this car. As it is, I don't mind the tire noise and love everything about the Z.

Most likely the G37S just has different mufflers.

I've always found the VQ engines to have too much of a whine-ish sound to them. It brings back memories of my 1991 Chevy Corsica's 2.2L engine...which is NOT a good thing.

The exhaust is a different story, that sounds better.

Wow now that you have said that I sure wont be posting here anymore! Thanks for changing my life with your deep words of wisdom. Your foul mouth suits your intelligence.

majin, let's be civil!
Nice post Donna. Maybe it's my headphones, but it sounded far more subdued than I thought it would. I was expecting more of a first-generation G35 coupe snarl. This actually reminded me of my '73 240Z with the vacuum-like sound.

mrryte-

Good thought. On cold winter days, when you can see the exhaust from the dual pipes, it spins out instead of just shooting out. It kinda looks like two tornadoes. Infiniti obviously designed them to resonate differently. Very cool!
