Finally. It took 2 months of ordering and re-ordering the replacement door panel for our 2009 Infiniti FX50. But it finally arrived. We stopped by Cerritos Infiniti to have it installed and now it's good as new. And the work itself took just under 2 hours.
Total Cost: $0

That is actually one really ugly looking door panel...particularly that gaudy, cheap-looking trim. And normally Infiniti does some of my favorite wood trim, too (considering I'm not much of a fan of wood).

How does the wood trim match up with the rest of the interior? I know Infiniti used to not use real wood, but I think they now do, so I'm wondering how the grain and color match the rest of the interior.

Still think duct tape or gorilla glue would have been better, faster, and cheaper.

Good thing this didn't happen to the Chevy...you guys would be ripping it a new one.

Based on IL's uniformly terrible experiences in getting replacement parts for their vehicles, regardless of vehicle class, make or model, I can only conclude that dealership parts department employees are the dumbest people on Earth.
But I could be wrong -- it's possible that the automakers' parts distribution employees are the dumbest people on Earth.

I kind of thought the point of door trimming was to cover up the sheet metal, but there is more visible on the door of this premium product than I have ever seen on a production vehicle!

@uncanny_man
What you're seeing on the door is a result of a trend towards wider lower b-pillars for side impact strength.

Huh, I didn't think of that. Are alot of newer vehicles like this? Thanks for the tidbit!

@hybris
Gorilla Glue: $3.99+ Tax
Dealer: $0.00
So which did you say was cheaper??? (Yes Gorilla Glue would have been quicker though)

They replaced the entire door panel? Wow.
I thought they would just replace the wood. That is pretty good of Infiniti.

Sure looks like a lot of cheap plastic on a luxury SUV!

Kingfish, everything in gray is soft touch, no hard plastic at all. The wood is real and so is the aluminum accent. The only hard plastic is the small bezel around the power window switch.
