2009 Honda Fit: Making It Less Adorable

2009_honda_fit_garage.jpg 2009_honda_fit_tough.jpg

I like the way our 2009 Honda Fit accelerates, shifts, steers, handles and reconfigures its rear seats. And most of the time, I am fine with the fact that this is a terminally cute car.

2009_honda_fit_tough2.jpg With those big eyes, and that bulging nose, I find myself wanting to give its quarter panels a pinch. Orange is probably the cutest Fit color, save for Tidewater Blue, and it's definitely not a good choice if you want the car to look anything but adorable.

A couple months ago, though, I spotted this black 2009 Honda Fit. I don't like all the modifications on this car, and who knows how it rides now... but the lowered stance and aftermarket wheels go some distance in toughening up the Fit.

Erin I felt the same way when I saw this on YouTube.

More aggressive looking but, Why would you do it?

I also like the Fit in Orange, probably the most popular color where I live.

Blue Sensation or Blackberry Pearl are the way to go for this car. Not cute, but not as sinister as black, while the greys offered just say "I'm dressed up in a big boy's suit."

I wonder what this car would be like with the Civic Si's screaming 2.0L. Yikes!

Fit meets K20. Keep in mind this is the last model year, but still.

+1 sabastian. I am more than a little surprised there isn't a Fit Si. I would think because it would take money from the Civic, but I don't think that is a bad thing.

Aftermarket Honda Fit for the win. Cuteness? Please......aftermarket, tricked-out Fit is the way to go.

I thought the Fit was nice looking until I saw the Fiesta.......Honda had better do something about the looks of their small cars........oh and their mid size cars..........oh and the Acuras.......come to think about is they are all pretty boring/ugly.......

I liked the Fiesta until I saw one with the seat down. It doesn't fold flat and the interior space is tiny compared to the Honda. It had better look a lot better because it falls way short as a hatchback.

Erin:

Concerning the big(bug) eyes, every time my wife sees a Fit she wants to get a fly swatter and just swat one. Reminds her of big bugs, not a good thing. We looked at Civic one time, but my wife said the front end made her think that an elephant had sat on it. She actually said it to the salesman. She still has fond memories of her coffin on wheels, her Civic CVCC. She loved that car. What a piece of crap. Had a manual choke, had to run the heater to keep it from overheating. Needed a rebuilt motor at 90,000 miles. Honda quality. Lovely, for those of you who have ever lived in the East County in San Diego, no fun at all. I will admit it was a cute car, no let me correct myself, toy. It was a toy, not a car.

The aftermarket Fit looks like something that would want to drive and be seen driving.

The black one looks like the car the Japanese were driving with night vision googles in "Cannonball Run" (a movie from 1981, for you youngsters).

@bc1960: I bought grey and it's also great for hiding dirt than most colors. Functional color decision for a functional car purchase decision.

I'm suprised the fit doesn't have blacked out headlights. usually changing the headlight housing to black is popular with the all-chrome headlights (like the 02-04 RSX blacking out the headlights to look more like the 05-06 models)

I like the modified fit, makes it look a little more serious
