Below are the fuel economy numbers for November 2009. We've listed the best, worst and overall average tanks.
As usual, a couple of cars are out on the road or unavailable at the time of this writing. I'll continue to add them as they come in and let you know in the comments.

Donna, will we ever get MPG numbers on the Prius, Edge, and RX400h? If not can you at least tell us what is going on with them?
Surprising to see the XC60 so low on the list.

Am I the only one who is really disappointed with the A4 Avant?
I'm averaging 19.6mpg with a lead-foot in my A5 with the 265hp V6.
Yet the A4 is lacking 40+hp, and I doubt you guys are able to set cruise on at 100mph (I have a rural highway commute with radar blockers), yet the A4 only is getting roughly 2mpg better on average....

I'm surprised the M3 did so poorly... although in those hands...
@subaru123: The XC60, while a nice little luxury CUV, consistently scores poorly in the fuel economy game. This particular XC60 could probably use a little more breaking in as well. So maybe those numbers will improve a bit with time.

I agree with with subaru123, whats with the 400h and Prius. Mileage? How are they holding up?

When did the light bar get added to the FX50? ;-)

@carguy622
The M3 has consistently posted poor numbers - but then again its a "sports sedan" (that always seems contradictory to me) and is being driven hard (as it should be) by the IL folks. I did find it odd that before the GT-R left, it was posting better numbers than the M3, made me wonder what was going on in the BMW.
Is this the full list of your fuel numbers? The cars not listed seem to be increasing. What's up IL?

You will not get an answer to your question......Talking about the Edge is forbidden evidently. The eds suddenly disappear when that subject is talked about. Not very professional.
bodyblue says:

I bet no Ed will respond to this posting and if they do they will continue to ignore the Edge question. Taking bets?
1487 says:

mileage of the Camaro, G8 and Challenger isnt all that bad when you use the S5 and M3 as measuring sticks.
Was the Edge ever formally dismissed from the fleet? Was it stolen?
bodyblue says:
12:26 PM, 12/ 2/09
That is the question 1487...what happened to it. Whenever somebody asks, the Eds stop posting on that thread.

equ says:

My 2010 2.0T has about 2000miles on it, so it's not even really broken in. We've had a tank of 28mpg's (actual) and our last tank of lots of city (and this is NYC) and some highway got 24mpg's. Maybe our worst so far. The trip computer is optimistic by a lot, perhaps 1-2mpg's, but on the life of the car (this includes car washes, delivery, port, lots of idling and break-in runs :) ) it is showing 27 and change. So a real 25.5mpg's.
Ok, so my car is not tiptronic, but does it make that much difference? Something is wrong with that a4. By the way, I have the same 18" wheels and sport suspension, use 35f/33r psi. The other difference is that my car has the pirelli p7 cinturato summer's that are supposed to be low rolling resistance. Is it this, the 6MT or I just have a better engine?
bodyblue says:

OK.....see my point....the EDS tiptoe out of the conversation....very gutless of them.

i agree, can we can an update on the prius and rx? pretty please?
jederino says:
04:44 PM, 12/ 3/09
@equ, so you have calculating mileage by logging your fill-ups, and you have noted the discrepancy against the trip computer?
jederino says:
04:47 PM, 12/ 3/09
@1487, the LS V8's are comparing impressively with their high-revving european counterparts. Low revs and lotsa torque must be a real benefit here, because these are big and heavy cars, too.
equ says:

@jederino, yes I compare the computer to the gas station old-school calculation... If I do one very long drive, so at this point, my observation is very approximate, though I have observed this tendency more than once. The problem is that once parked for 2 hours, the computer starts a new trip, so I'll have to get through a tank of gas with a break no longer than 2 hours to do a full calibration. There is a 2nd trip calculation that doesn't reset automatically, but that's been on since the beginning of the car and it's kind of nice to keep it that way... We'll see, one day I may get tired cumulative numbers on the entire life of the car.
It does seem that the trip computer is optimistic by 1 to 2mpg's. Interestingly, a number of bmw's I have owned have been optimistic by 0.5 to 1mpg's and the porsche cayman is basically dead-on or pessimistic by 0 to 0.5mpg's.

Two months in a row the Pontic G8 is listed in the fuel mileage summary as a 2009 but you guys are driving a 2008. Since it has remained in the long-term fleet longer than usual you must be in the habit of assuming all the cars are 2009 or 2010 models. I only noticed because I was surprised you still had it
