Wow. 111 miles. I've never seen the range that high.
Dan just looked over my shoulder and said that every picture we have of the Mini E is this same shot. Well, that's what this car is all about: the range meter. How far can I go today?
The Mini E calculates the estimated range based on how the previous 18 miles were driven.
Somebody before me did something the Mini E likes.
But you're better off looking at the percentage above. The milage estimate will only make you panic. It's just an estimate. And if you drive differently than the previous driver or if traffic conditions are different, you'll see it drop quickly.

Is it the large number of Edmunds people driving your Mini E that muddies the car's mileage estimates? Do you think the mileage estimates would be more accurate if the same person drove the vehicle?

"Is it the large number of Edmunds people driving your Mini E that muddies the car's mileage estimates?"
The general difficulty in measuring true battery capacity muddies the mileage estimates.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but is the Mini E like a cell phone with overcharging and all?

Donna,
What range are you used to seeing when it's 100% charged? It's really cold in New Jersey and I'm using the heater all the time so my range is down, but when it was warmer I always had over 100 miles of estimated range at 100% charge. It was even up well into the 120's many times. I really think a lot of your range issues is because you are not all charging at 220v when you take the cars home. Using the emergency 110V cable you need to charge it for 36 hours to get a full charge. When you don't complete a charge (the charger stops charging) the range and charge % estimates are way off. It will overstate it's real charge by as much as 15% so if you unplug the 110v cable and the charge % says 80, you might really only have 65 or 70%. Then you start driving and the range drops like a rock and you freak out. The car really needs to charge at 220V and complete the charge cycle for optimum range and correct range estimates. I know it would be impossible for all the Edmunds writers to have chargers installed in their homes, but I can't stress to you enough how much a difference it makes. Still, I like reading your comments and thoughts on the car. Keep up the good work.

We charge it most often at work. It gets a full charge every weekday. But the range I usually see is 86 or sometimes 90. I've never seen it over 100 before. I think it has more to do with all of our different driving styles. -- Donna
