2010 Volvo XC60: Scuffed Interior Trim

Volvo_xc60_scuff1.jpg

volvo_xc60-scuff3.jpg I like our 2010 Volvo XC60's classy-looking interior. But I was disappointed today to see that we've picked up some scuff marks on the metallic trim near the shifter. As is the case with pretty much any car's metallic trim in the Volvo's price range, it's not actually metal but rather painted plastic. No big deal -- normally, it looks fine. But Volvo runs the trim along the center stack's edges all the way down to where the shifter and cupholders are. And in this high-traffic area, there's a good chance that the trim's paint is going to get scratched if something hard drags or rubs against it.

I couldn't help but to see how short the accelerator pedal is. I'm sitting in a Camry as we speak.

I don't think that center stack is every going to grow on me, what with that dude sitting there staring you down

I'd say it's an argument in favor of traditional dyed molded plastic trim from which scuffs can be wiped clean.

In most any newer car, these metallic painted plastic trim covers are just begging to get scratched.

And forget real aluminum on control surfaces. Besides conducting heat (and cold) it simply dents too easily.
