2009 Mazda 6: 20,000 miles

Milestone Banner 7172009_Mazda6_1600_20kmilestone_1.jpgIt's 79 degrees on this beautiful November morning and our 2009 Mazda 6i Touring is just crossing the 20,000-mile barrier.

Give it a good wash and vacuum and obscure the odometer and you could tell me it had 1,200 miles on the clock and I'd believe you. This Mazda feels as tight as ever; no squeaks, the ride and handling are the same as they ever were and the interior looks and feels fresh.

And this 4-cylinder sedan routinely flirts with 400 miles per tank in mixed driving. That's none too shabby a milestone, either.

I don't know what it is about Mazda 6 but I'm not grabbed by it in anyway but I have nothing bad to say either. I guess IMHO its just a car.

"per tank" -- is that up to when the low fuel warning light comes on, or when the gauge decides to hang at "E"? I like a long range.

I like the instrument cluster. My '04's is all red. I think the handling is more responsive than the G37, but it seems like the new Mz6 is catering to the Camry crowd. Too bad, I think the styling allows it to stand out quite well coming down the road.

I am just glad that IL is actually testing something that most people buy (4cyl auto)...instead of the silly Mazdaspeed 3 that every other car rag is testing in their fleet.
