2009 Hyundai Genesis: Feels Good At 124 MPH

Speedo-1.jpg

Yeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw...Happy Thanksgiving.

This year I give thanks for the high speed stability of our long-term Hyundai Genesis (it had plenty left in it). I also give thanks to our professional driver and the closed course in which this speed was achieved.

An now it is turkey time.

I'm impressed! because this is the V6 model. Seems plenty strong to me, even with the base engine.

Hopefully the hood was fully closed while attaining this speed.

So what's she top out at?

I'm not surprised it runs so well at that speed. Especially since there was a guy in a 2006 Sonata V6 a while back who got caught doing 147 in Arizona.

Man, u keep seeing trends around here, scott is the guy responsible for posts with the playboy station, the 120mph -on closed course BS- posts....and chooses cars like the genesis and the bmw 750 to show what everybody already knows.

I've heard the Sonata's not so nice at around 124 because of wind noise, but that disappears by 147, but you'd best not have to make any curves. The Sonata's still in 4th at that speed unless you manually upshift it, by the way. Not sure what the RPM's are there because "my source" had to pee so badly he or she wasn't closely observing the tach.

Ok Scott get your professional driver to take the Ram out and see how far it will go.

Well, in this instance he was at Laguna Seca, so it COULD have been a closed course.

"chooses cars like the genesis and the bmw 750 to show what everybody already knows. "

Well, not having actually driven a Genesis at 124mph, I didn't know. On the other hand, I do know that in English it is considered appropriate to capitalize proper nouns.

{end snark}

124 mph indicated is how fast actual?

What is the speedo error in these cars?
