This past weekend our 2009 Dodge Ram didn't do any heavy lifting. It didn't haul anything, tow anything, or crush anything. Instead it just transported a few girls from shopping malls to outdoor eateries, same as any comfortable sedan.
And none of the women complained about it either. Once loaded up, the ladies seemed mostly impressed with its un-trucklike qualities. The roomy rear seat, the softly padded center console, the contrasting interior stitching, as well as the Ram's nav, Satellite radio and heated seats were all complimented.
But I felt kinda felt bad for the Ram, making it play shopping cart all day. Especially when it's so obvious that it can do so much more.

Don't feel bad you have to remember 2 things.
1. It's a Ram
2. Its the upper class trim.
3. It a half ton with a 4 door cab
If people say I'm just bashing Dodge yes I am but in all fairness I bash Ford guys with 4 door cabs as well just not to the same degree.

I think the new ram was designed perfectly for what you guys at insideline use it for. Mostly a roomy interior and the occasional hauling. It has a comfortable ride and very well appointed interior, plus the ramboxes are essentially a trunk. It all works out very well.

My uncle's got the Big Horn package. He loves the V8 and he puts his foot to the floor all the time. But when I got a chance to drive it, I was so fascinated with the cylinder deactivation (5.7L) that I barely touched the gas in order to see the little "fuel saver" light go on the dashboard. Total opposites, we are.
My favorite story: he was driving home from work one night and he was tapping his right hand to the beat of one of his favorite songs (don't ask me why he tapped on the column shifter) but he forgot there was a downshift button and he ended up shifting to second at 50 miles per hour. Woke him up, I bet.

You have a designer trim that few will ever buy, let alone use for real truck work. As such, you're likely using it exactly for what it is designed.

Does anyone else think this truck would be vastly improved if all the chrome were replaced by flat black utilitarian paint? Maybe the bumpers could even be painted with bedliner to prevent the inevitable work scratches this truck would (should) get.

I love the look of the new RAM. It doesn't seem out of place doing non-work related jobs, either. Nice truck
