2009 Dodge Ram 1500: Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy Time Change

2009 dodge ram time changeYesterday, I decided to tackle changing the clock in our long-term Dodge Ram. It was a pleasantly quick and easy process. No RTFMing needed.

I just tapped the clock display on the radio's main screen and up popped the screen pictured above left. Tapped the "daylight savings" virtual button once and it moved the clock to standard time just like that (above right). I hit the "save" button, and was done with it.

Did you change your car's clock yet? Was it easy?

Yep, changed the time in my 2004 A4 Sunday morning. It was a matter of pressing the Mode button until the hour started blinking, pressed "-", then pressed Mode until nothing was blinking. A little better than the single twist knob in the 2004 Jetta (I keep forgetting which direction changes the hour or the minute).

Yep I did it. It was very simple I just needed to hit daylight savings "off". In my Prius I had to hit the hour button 11 times.

I have yet to change mine. Since it has a Navigation System, I expected it to do it itself, I guess I was wrong.

I hate Daylight saving... I wake up on Sunday to find all the clocks conflicting...

Hold down "clock." Press "hour" 11 times. Press "clock" again to save.

Pretty easy.

My car has an aftermarket stereo and its clock was hard to adjust. I lost the manual for the stereo so each time I try to change the time, I would forget the complicated steps I apparently needed to do and go by trial and error. Lately the stereo has been "losing" power at random times, even though the battery has never been disconnected, and it would reset back to 12 am each time. I just gave up trying to keep the time correct now and just check my cellphone for the time while I'm driving.

Wow. That's nice. It was pretty damn easy on my S4 - click the 'reset' button (stupidly labeled), navigate to clock, press the down button, and save it. I omitted a few button presses, but at no point in time did I have to hit any button 11 or 23 times.

Not looking forward to this process in my Odyssey. It's far klugier.

No clock no problem. And I wear a Atomically set watch so no need to look at the phone.

Very easy in the Element: hold the clock button until the time flashes, press the hour button 11 times, press the clock button again.

you'd think that if cell phones can change automatically when crossings time zones; the manufacturers could manage to get cars with sat radio/nav to do this without human intervention.

Pushing an hour button 11 times pisses me off. :D

All I had to do was to push the clock button to highlight the hour, and the Tune rocker switch down one time to roll back one hour. Then hit clock two more times, and I'm done. I love simplicity. Plus I get musical beeps with the pressing of the buttons!

I didn't have to do anything in my Acura RDX. The clocked changed automatically. Since the GPS signals include the time/date, any GPS-enabled car can handle DST automatically if the software is there. Acura even includes an option in the navi to switch back to the old DST schedule (in case the USA ever decides to go that route again).

My '08 Nissan Armada is changed in the same manner. Just a few clicks to switch off the daylight savings setting and you are done. I'd imagine that it won't be long (GM Onstar and BMW Assist vehicles and the like) could be done automatically thru digital communication.
