The G8's cabin reminds me of my older brother's basement. Descend those stairs and you'll find that the room is a bit messy, and some of the furniture looks like it belongs in a time capsule. But the couches are comfy and the vibe is mellow -- all in all, it just feels right.
So it is with the Pontiac. The car's cabin looks dated in some respects, but the seats offer just enough support and I love the way the steering wheel feels in my hands. Now if only it had pay-per-view and a Wii...

Thats an attractive angle of the interior, I dont know how those seats feel, but they sure look nice.

Doesn't look like a dated interior to me. Then again, I drive a 5 year old car, and that's ancient to some people.

With altimadude on this... looks pretty nice and up to date to me, but I drive a car coming on seven years old and am still satisfied with it.

I also don't get the dated comment.

I wouldn't say the entire interior is dated but I do see a few things here and there could be called dated. Overall, I like the design, however I just wish the materials and finish were a few levels higher. I know GM really couldn't do much more as it wasn't specifically designed for this market but given the cars pricing structure I would expect a higher level of perceived quality.

I never did understand the criticism concerning the interior either. The places you touch on a daily basis feel good and are solid. Beyond that, I liked the rubberized dash-top, felt cool and gave a little under pressure, as an added bonus was easy to keep clean.
Also, the seats are fairly comfortable, but it felt like they might suit larger people better. I did 7-8 7-hour stints in those seats with out a problem. No kinks, no pain of any kind. My only complaint is that when sleeping in the back, the middle seat is a major inconvenience.

I'm sure it's possible, Warren. :o)
Check out Curtis' car. Heh.

Every car in the wrinklebump fleet has a significantly uglier interior so I think it looks pretty nice

I hate window switches in the center. Put them back on the door where they belong. I think my dad's old Mercedes also had that.

I found the interior to feel slightly dated as well in the first-year G8 I was in.....the digital bar gauges on top of the dash exacerbated what was most likely a great design. I think the materials are befitting a car with a base price of 20-22k....they are nice, but I thought there were several pieces that bothered me a good amount (granted, the steering wheel in the regular G8 is a sham while the one in the g8 gt is great).
That being said, I honestly think the overall interior is classic and will age extremely well.

Seats are certainly both comfortable & supportive, for me.
[ Somewhat above average sized, these days. ]

I’ll take my “pay-per-vroom”. . .

I really liked the interior - its relatively stark, and I thought it felt quite solid.

The sides of the center console could feel a bit more solid and there is a plastic piece on the back of the side steering wheel spokes that aren't 100% snug, but I have no complaints otherwise. I hate the "Atari" gauges in the '08s, which is now my sunglasses storage in my '09 GT. The seats are very comfortable, especially for somebody that's 6'7" and 240lbs like myself. Skinny seats like in the Evo X are not comfortable. I only wish the headrest went up higher and was adjustable for tilt.

Is the G8 the most owned car in the IL blog? Redwood and Ray each have one, g8gtnorth had one, I have one, I think some other guys have one too.
Sure, it isn't fancy, but last night I was driving home just after sunset and the interior looked beautiful (I have the red and black leather). I like the seats, but I'm not quite fat enough for them to be snug. It is a good problem to have, and I wish the headrests went higher too. The center console buttons were not a problem for me after a day in it (even if my passengers are always confused).
The best thing I can say about it is when I drove 600 miles from Albuquerque to Wichita and I was never uncomfortable. That strikes me as a well designed interior.

I drive a 2008 RS4 and still double-take at every G8 I see. Such a good looking car. Great sound too. Should have picked up that white GXP at Martin Cadillac when I had the chance!

Looks nice to me but the point is moot....Pontiac is dead, who cares now that it was a solid effort? It has been reliable and fun...too bad none of it matters now.

matt310 - I think I'd rather have the RS4 than the GXP. Good choice for your ride.

The atari gauges are god-awful, thankfully they took those out for 2009. The interior is pretty nice overall, with the rubberized finishes and silver accents to break up the vast expanses of black. I have the red/onyx interior and it makes the interior look that much better.

The seats are near perfect for me. I'd love more bolster support, but they are extremely comfortable and not at all fatigue causing. We took it on a trip from SoCal to Vegas. No aches or anything after the desert run.
Some aspects of the interior are quirky, but overall, I have very little to complain about with this car.
