Does not take a genius to see a trend here.

I just thought of something....why put something in the IL fleet that almost nobody buys? Especially something so strange. Would it not be better to actually test something that a person might actually purchase? I kinda see having the BMW Ms and a Genesis and even the Electric Mini but this is such a silly machine.

Personally I love the FX and think it's better than the Porsche Cayenne (Porsche's best selling vehicle) in terms of luxury and the two are pretty similar in performance. If I had the $60k+ to spend I would chose the FX anyday. It is just sad to see these sales figues dwindling. Now I completely understand the previous FX post asking why the FX never took off like the Cayenne.

So, that's why I've never, ever seen an FX50 before, even at a dealership. It's really too bad because, as subaru said, the FX is a better value overall than the Cayenne. Ironically, though, Cayenne's are everywhere. Oh well.

@carfreak8394

Very good, you realize that the FX is a better value than the Cayenne.

Sigh.....

Of course the Infiniti is a better value!!!! Porsche is notorious for being overpriced, and essentially, a terrible value.

Selling like them hotcakes! I better go reserve one before they all sell out and I end up with a turd colored one!

SRX - 2,866
Enclave - 2,748
M-class - 2552
MDX - 2220
X5/X6 - 1644
MKX - 1,514
X5 - 1,393
XC90 - 882
FX - 811
X6 - 251
Tourag - 489

Shame the Tourag still sells so poorly. Although I hear on debut it had a whole host of problems, I always thought it was a really great looking vehicle inside and out.

The FX50 sales numbers don't really surprise me. Its a very strange vehicle from a usage point of view...and it doesn't help that its hideous.

redwoodaggie says:

They uglyfied most of the FX on the refresh, unfortunately. It probably sold well a few years ago, because it was different. I predict that even if sales start well on the likes of the ZDX, they'll go down later too. I do see a lot of FXs on the road here in Dallas, but rarely the ones with V-8s.

jeepsrt says:

The Infiniti dealership in Colorado Springs won't even get FX50's because they are so hard to sell. I personally love them, they are styled a little strange but they are awesome to drive. Although I would wait for a pre owned FX50 S because I won't spend 60k on an SUV.

By the way, what are the sale figures for the Cayenne?

southphillyman says:

i wonder what these are going for used......is there anyway this becomes a rare collectible? The performance is there. I'm curious what the production numbers are on these

"RX - 8,228"

Good grief - for the life of me, I'll never understand the appeal of the Lexus RX and how it routinely out-sells it's next closest competitor 3:1. Especially the new one, which is uglier than ever. That thing has to be the highest profit margin vehicle for Toyota by far, especially since its platform is shared with about 5 other vehicles, and they sell for $45k+ a piece.

Out of that list, I would put it dead last as far as crossovers I would buy.

desmolicious says:

The Lexus appeals to women who would actually prefer a Camry, but think this is cooler.
All the ones in my neighbourhood are driven by 40-60 year old ladies.
I think Lexus sells so well because they also have the customer service thing down.

sgude says:

The RX is a serious chick-mobile. I only know one man who drives one, and I'm certain his wife picked it out.

Well thanks mike, I did asked that question in the open thread.
What I didnt really know (nor expected) was the huge difference between V6 vrs V8 sales.
12 to 1 (07), 20 to 1 (08), 10 to 1(09) ....wow! Thanks again.
