I've spent the past couple of days in our 2009 Infiniti FX50. Before I grabbed the keys to the Infiniti I couldn't tell you the last time I saw any version of FX on the road. But since I've had the key in my pocket they're everywhere. I saw three (two FX35s and one FX45) yesterday on my commute home in the rain. This morning I encountered another FX35.
These FXs are understandably a rare breed. Do you see any in your neighborhood?

No, and in my neighborhood there are two Cayenne Turbo S's, an ML63 AMG and several standard Cayennes and Trailblazer SS's. As far as fast SUVs go it's incredibly rare.

And I mean specifically FX50's. I've honestly never seen one in person... seen a few FX35's, though.

The first-generation FX is really prevalent in the part of Orange County that I live in, but I don't think I've come across even a half-dozen of the new design, and they were all 35s. I want to see more, just so I can make a better judgment on the exterior design; in passing, I'm not convinced I like it as much as the original.
Other rare cars in my area have been 370Zs and 1-series of any vein. I saw what was maybe the fourth of fifth 1-series that I'd ever seen yesterday, a dark grey 135i; it was probably the least terrible-looking one I'd seen yet. It sure did sound good as we left the parking lot at the same time, though...

A friend of mine has owned several Infiniti cars and she really dislikes the look of this new FX.

I'm not stopping at the FX50, but running down the entire list of IL long term cars....and I've seen 10 of them (that's 10 out of 28). And of those I've only seen a handful of each. I've maybe seen one or two FX50s, but I couldn't determine the engine because they were going the other way. Tampa is not a hotbed of the latest and greatest of things automotive.
Got plenty of Nissan Altimas though.

No where I live these cars are common: Corvette, A8, S550, M3, Range Rover supercharged, Land Rover Disco, Ford F150, Lincoln MKZ, Infiniti G37, Hummer H2, Wrangler, Yukon Denali, Prius, plus my Tribeca (B9s re much more popular than Tribecas).
However I did know someone with an FX35 but it got totaled and now they have a Lexus ES. But the FX was spacious, luxurious, and POWERFUL.

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Paragraph spacing is back:) Now we just need hyperlinked arrows in the archives so we can see all of the posts of a long term car just not the recent ones.

One "fun" fact about where I live. The new generation Dodge Grand Caravan is probably the rarest car. I've seen more Nissan GT-Rs and Bentleys than I have Grand Caravans.

I've seen the older FX35's, and one new 37. The reason for this could be the styling.

A neighbor has one just like the LT car, same color.
It looks like a catfish. That's not good or bad, just an observation.
Actually the only thing that bothers me with the styling is the big, chrome side vent. It looks tacky and SO out of place, especially on such an organic form.
If it were not for that, I could appreciate it for what it is.
It does look expensive and sporty.

I saw something pass by but couldn't tell if it was an oversized angry sperm or this particular vehicle. Either way I am glad I wasn't hit by it.

Is there any way besides the badge to tell an FX35 from an FX50 just from looking at it?

@ Subaru 123
The question asks whether people see the FX. Nobody cares what is in your neighborhood.

No, thank the heavens. Every time I see a picture I have an unforced bowel movement

I see none in my neighborhood!!!!!!!!!!! And I made that clear in my comment. You could have stopped reading what I wrote after you saw the word NO. I just added the cars that are normally seen where I live (NJ). And yes some people (including me) care about what cars are seen in different areas. Just read this post from Edmunds daily.

I'm sure Philip Reed would have liked to have known that info before he went so that he could have tried to rent a Subaru.
And I wouldn't post information if I thought nobody would find it useful. I'm sure the editor that couldn't get the Recaro car seat into the SX4 appreciated my suggestion on how to remove the rear head rest. The head rest was removed after trying my suggetion and the car seat was installed properly. A few posts later I got a thank you from that editor because I posted too much information. If you don't like what I write that's fine but I always post something related. The first thing I did was answer the original question by starting off my comment with "No".

This is such a typical New Jersey response: Full of anger, rage, and immaturity. As far as your posts go, I can tell you just like to boast to complete strangers how nice the cars are in your area as a desperate attempt to impress people by demonstrating that you live in a wealthy community and thus are a wealthy individual.

Out here in Dubai the FX is the best selling Infiniti model. On my block there are four 2nd Gen FXs (3 FX50s & one FX35), and a handful of first gen FX35s. Mind you, my block has around six residential "mini" skyscrapers (30+ floors).
