2009 Dodge Challenger R/T: My 2nd Favorite Sound

car-of-the-week-717_8.jpg

The exhaust note in our 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T is pretty special, but after that there's the horn. This video doesn't do it justice (maybe we'll put a real mic to it one of these days), but it's one of the loudest and most satisfying horns I've ever used in anger. It's perfect for a large black coupe. "You will respect my authoritah!" I've been heard to quote...

That's a great horn but I don't think it can beat the one in Jeremy Clarkson's Mercedes.

Challenger's horn is acoustically nice, but Clarkson's wins. Someone needs to record Clarkson's infamous "Shut up", "More power", and "Get out of my way" and play them to a car horn.

My horn is broken...

I wish my Neon had a little more oomph to its horn, that's for sure. I'd rather just drop down a gear or two to have the car backfire and the BOV hiss and flip someone off than use that embarrassing little toot.

Horns are overrated. By the time you hit the horn, the guy hears it and reacts in a useful way you've either hit him or gone around him (or her).

It's just the acoustic version of giving someone the finger.

I wish my horn had an audio recording of 50-cal. machine gun fire. I'm sure that would shock whomever cut me off in traffic. It's probably better than actually packing a concealed weapon in the car. Though of course I wouldn't know and if I did I'd have an authorized concealed weapons permit.

Horns are useful if utilized appropriately. I was backing out of a parking space when some dude slammed on his horn. I hit the brakes and turned around and there was a dude walking right behind that I couldn't see in my mirror. Pretty thoughtful.

Can't say it sounds particularly unique but as you said the lack of a proper mic might be the problem.

Also I would be the first person in line to get a Jeremy Clarkson horn.

You shouldn't flip someone off while driving. The local authorities may consider it road rage. Seriously.
