2009 Dodge Challenger R/T: If It Was Mine...

LowChallenger_01.gif

I like the Challenger, really, I do. If it was mine, though, I'd drop it an inch or so. It rides too high for my tastes, plus, I think it looks better - even a bit more sinister. I'd also have to cut the wheelwells out a bit so the tires won't tuck under the bodywork. Finally, I'd rig together one of those induction tubes from the 2010 Mustang to get some of that wonderful engine noise to blend with the thumpin' sound system.

every sports and muscle car should have that induction tube like the mustang.

Every car except for the 370Z, I guess.

The Challenger looks much better once it is lowered but if it were mine I would sell it and buy a Camaro.

One of these was following me yesterday. It was the same color scheme as the one pictured, but looked like a darker orange. Maybe the picture makes it look lighter than it really is. Anyway, in those colors and in person, that's one good looking car. The picture above doesn't begin to do it justice.

I don't see the need to lower it though. It doesn't make it look that much different and you're making too many compromises with ride and suspension travel.

Keep your LT Challenger for another 12 months and make it Project Challenger.

brn, I think the color difference has a lot to do with this picture being of the concept Challenger, not the actual production Challenger that I believe actually looks better. Kudos to Dodge on that one.

I second greenpony on keeping it for project Challenger. Try to make it out-handle and be quicker than the SRT-8 on a budget of only the price difference.

If we have a project Challenger then I want a Mustang (GT500 maybe?) and a Camaro too. We'll cover the big three and if the Evo is still around we can do a East vs West comparison.

It would make for some good blog posts.

No matter how much it's lowered or what style, type or size rim you install, it doesn't rid the car of the visual bulk it seems to carry. The overall proportions are ok but it's just too chunky for me visually. That and the fact that its dynamically lazy gives me no reason to be interested.

The lowering is a good call. I love this car, but it is very high - especially from the rear angle.
