"Has BMW made made driving too easy?"
How about you loan me the car for a while so I can formulate an informed opinion? I promise to report in full detail in a blog like the folks testing the Mini-E and Fiesta. ;-)

"When I drive I actually drive, so no need for a place for drinks, food, or any other distraction."
You sound downright un-American; I bet you even make people nervous by holding the steering wheel with both hands...

Is DTS a Dirty Word?
By altimadude00 on September 7, 2009 10:48 AM
Uh oh, you're going to get roasted just mentioning the Cadillac DTS!
Seriously, there's nothing wrong with it, besides the image problem. For 8/10ths the luxury for half the price of a 7 series, I'd probably get one.
2002 BMW M3: I Miss It. Do You?
I Miss My Italian, Too
By slickersdrip on September 7, 2009 2:13 PM
I kinda miss the M3... but as srlracing said, it's the Ferrari that I really miss. The Love/Hate relationship that all of the editors without it was entertaining... as well as the classic April Fools Day post about the Ferrari.
I'd love to see a 2002 Z06 or 2011 (with the Coyote V8) join the fleet.
I've Witnessed Those Stripes In the Making
By banditone on September 7, 2009 4:45 PM
Actually my dad has a Trailblazer SS. Great truck. He got RWD so he can do big burnouts, and trust me that truck does big burnouts. I have the stripes in front of my house to prove it.
Best, Scott Oldham
Hummm

We love our daytime 80 mph speed limit out in west Texas. I can hardly remember the horrible days of 55 mph. I guess I'm blocking those memories subconsciously or something.

What a welcome sign.
I'll Take a Mini D
By autoboy16 on September 8, 2009 9:32 AM
Wow, this car hasn't made it to 1,000 miles yet? Most IL cars make 5,000 in this amount of time! Btw, thanks for answering my question about the headlights! If they were Halogen, i would be afraid to drive this car in the dark. I would go buy some ebay kit really quickly if that were the case!
EXIT VEHICLE button? Wow! I am officially never going to get a Mini E! BMW/Mini, PLEASE bring a Mini D to the States before 2015!
Run, Forrest, Run
By 7driver on September 8, 2009 9:33 AM
The "Run Away" icon is kind of funny, but if you think about it, 150lbs of gasoline in an internal combustion car can be equally as catastrophic if not more and the only warning indicators you have are heat, smoke and flames. Advantage: Electric car (all else being equal, of course).
2009 BMW M3: An added benefit of the front spoiler shape
I'd Buy That Option
By brooksbell on September 8, 2009 1:42 PM
Made me think that a nice engineering addition to parking and blind spot cameras would be if they took pictures and stored them in the event of a collision. Maybe catch a photo of the perp.
By civilag on September 9, 2009 9:42 AM
@brooksbell: That's a a great idea with cars already equipped with cameras. Especially useful if the collision happened when the car was parked and the owner was away. Hrmmm...you could be onto something!
2009 Infiniti FX50 AWD: Recaro Child Seat
Sense and Sensibility
By jason25 on September 8, 2009 1:49 PM
The FX50 makes no sense at all. And it is way too expensive. But for some reason if I had the coin, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.
Baby Stiggy
By hybris on September 8, 2009 9:56 PM
Looking at the size of that seat I can't help but think that The Stig must have rode in one as a child. Nonetheless its huge for a baby seat.

2009 Audi S5: High Fashion
Agreeing With Us Is Not Fahionable
By slickersdrip on September 8, 2009 6:15 PM
I have to agree with this post in a sense. While it's highly dependent on which model (I'm more likely to think country club when I see a 2.0T w/auto 4 compared to say... a 335i coupe with a six speed), generally the Audis are flat out better styled vehicles in my opinion. When I was walking across campus to see the Longhorns flatten the LA-Monroe Warhawks on Saturday my friends and I saw a black Audi A5 with a six speed and the S-Line package. It was absolutely stunning-- everyone in my group, both male and female stopped to look it over and gush over its looks.
By slickersdrip on September 8, 2009 6:16 PM
Wow Mike, I totally just inadvertently proved your point. Whoops.
Haute Gear
By cwmoo740 on September 10, 2009 2:10 PM
Not to mention that Top Gear fans thinks of Audi as the high-fashion "designer" brand thanks to Jeremy Clarkson. Anyone ever watched his top gear review of the TT? And anyone remember that Audi makes the R8? One of the most impressive looking cars on the road today? Not to mention that people in Europe just eat up the A3 because of its cool image and looks.

Why Read an Enthusiast Blog If you Don't Want Us To Drive Enthusiastically
By alex4515 on September 9, 2009 8:38 AM
Exactly. Anyone buying a used performance car, especially one like the M3, should expect or assume that it has been driven hard at some point. Otherwise, what is the point of having such a car?
Huh?
By ptcdawg on September 9, 2009 1:00 PM
Clutches for manuals don't cost that much...that said, who wants a stinking manual in a performance car? Give me the stick anyday...
Oh, OK. Hello, Edit Button?
By ptcdawg on September 9, 2009 6:13 PM
PTC was confused....especially on the "who wants a manual" comment.. should have said "automatic"
2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS: On the Highway, It Gets 21 MPG

Oh my god people the thing has over 400 horsepower and we're arguing about mpg.
2009 Nissan 370Z: Damage Update
Pre-Dinged, Is That a New Option?
By bradyholt on September 9, 2009 8:48 PM
I got my car used and pre-dinged, so I'm not all that concerned about further minor damage. As long as it's not in a position to get worse (rust), I'm fine with it. Keeping something that's used in the conditions a car is in pristine condition isn't worth the aggravation.
2009 Nissan 370Z: The Dipstick Lover's Sports Car

By bimmerjay on September 10, 2009 1:01 PM
"It's that yellow thing for those of you out there that own a brand new BMW and have never seen a dipstick before." All BMWs have dipsticks, they're just located in the driver's seat instead of under the hood.

2009 Mazda 6: Not Many On The Road
Come On, It's Not That Bad
By m3shmem3 on September 11, 2009 10:46 AM
Maybe because it looks like an RX-8 tried to swallow an ES350 but gave up half way through and died of boredom. How did they manage to create something so generic that it makes a Camry look exciting?

Yea...nissan sucks.
Should have got a vette.
BMW's better.
GTR and Z are awful.
If it were my money.....
I hate the Z
I hate Nissan.
Ok...cool. Got them all out of the way for everyone else.
By crowb on September 11, 2009 12:33 PM
@ mikes 12 - I believe you left out something to the effect of:
"If this were the Camaro or Challenger, Edmund's would be screaming how this was 'totally outrageous' and 'evidence that American cars are inferior'. The bias among the editorial staff is massive. blah blah blah blah..."
2009 Dodge Challenger R/T: Why Do I Like This Car?
Roger Miller Is Smiling
By felonious on September 11, 2009 2:44 PM
I believe that feeling you're describing is "King of the Road". It's a good one. :) Many cars do not have it, like my 04 STi. To make up for that, I had to drive it around like a street racer, to prove that it was sporty. In a "King of the Road" car, you don't have to prove anything to anyone, because they already know. Relaxed, confident, and powerful.

As an owner of a Mazda6, V6, sSport model; I admit that the front end is not the car's best angle. Yeah, it does look like an RX-8 front end. Personally, I hate rotary engines because they're about as reliable as a politician's promises. Fun, you bet! But I need something I can count on to get to work on time AND use for fun on the weekends.
Every other angle of the Mazda6 is sweet! Especially with the tasteful rear-spoiler attached.
Considering the performance... Who gives a crap that the front end looks like an RX-8! The giant grin on my face doesn't give a crap!
