I've written in this forum several times before how much I love our long-term Nissan GT-R.
Today I'll discuss the 5 things I hate about this vehicle.
1. The ride. I hate how stiff the ride is in default or "R" mode. But in the comfort setting, it's just fine. After all, this isn't an SC 430.
2. The crunching noises. I hate the low speed crunching noises that emanate at times from the transmission. But this dual-clutch transmission with paddles is one of the easiest and most fun gearboxes to use. I would take it over the best manual transmissions out there.
3. The low front spoiler. I hate how this thing makes contact with every driveway dip and parking block. I hate how you have to park 1 meter from the end of the space to make sure you don't beach it on the parking block. But that spoiler helps the aero and adds to the sexy low look.
4. The service. 8 quarts of ATF at 86 bucks a quart? Seven grand in repair and maintenance cost in 25,000 miles? But I guess that's the cost of doing business in the near-exotic arena.
5. Little love from women. Although guys constantly gawk and ask you about it nearly every time you add fuel, most women don't give it a second look. But if your sole purpose was to impress the ladies you would have leased a Lambo or 997 Turbo, right?
As you can see, my hate pool for the R35 is small and shallow.
Although it's not perfect, it's close to perfect for me.

I think your list perfectly illustrates why this car would make a phenomenal second car, but why a Porsche 911 would be vastly superior if you could only have one car. As a weekend bruiser the GT-R has few equals, but any drawbacks that it does have are things that would be apprent everyday in the daily grind.

I have to think that color doesn't do much to inspire admiration from the female set. The GT-R and the M3 are both just plain boring in just plain white. It's like shiny primer.

if i were a betting man, i'd say the problem with item 5 exists between steering wheel and driver seat. not with the car. pebkac in computer speak.
but if impressing women is your main goal and leasing a lambo is your #1 solution, you deserve the ones you'll meet. warning: they probably have an hourly rate.

I'll second that--Z06 or 911.

I have a problem with number 4 because you guys didn't have to pay for the tranny just because you are media so it would have been $27,000 in 25,000 miles more than $1 per mile in repair costs or a entire Ferrari 308 (actually with today's prices it's almost two 308's)

You missed the most important factor of all:
- Only comes with silly, flappy gearbox (to quote Carlson).

The repair costs alone deter me. Oh yeah, and it costs as much as a down payment for a house.
Otherwise....awesome.

No, thanks. As reliable as an old Maserati, ugly (even if that much ugly helps the performance) and just not spectacular, no. E90 M3 or CTS-V for me, thanks.

Surprised it made it around the 'Ring without breaking down or losing a $500 lugnut.

A 911 is a good choice for a daily driver in the real world and if you want more muscle you have Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger to choose from or if have to have "Made in Japan" Then you have a Miata, RX-8, and Impreza STI all of which probably have better clearances and are probably a hell of a lot cheap to buy and mantain then the GTR.
Now to the list.
1. Realize what R mode is and if your back can't take it don't use it.
2. No Response
3. Welcome to the life of a supercar.
4. $86-114 bucks/per liter is expensive but given the short service intervals its well within the realm of extremely high maintenance.
5. Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche, Zonda, Veyron, McLaren, Ariel Atom, and maybe even a Hummer H1 Alpha outside of CA all of which might help attract ladies but I agree with betaromeo that maybe something in the cab may have something to do with 5.

Regarding number #5:
For those that buy cars for that reason, the only type of girls you pull with those type of rides are the "Flavor/Rock of Love" rejects. And heaven knows how many reliability, maintenance and longevity issues those tramps will give you....
If you DO have the money for a Lambo, Ferrari or any of those other exotics, here's what I suggest you do:
1. Buy the GT-R.
2. Buy some mutual funds/bonds or any other investment that will yield some decent gains in the long run.
3. Whatever change you have left can be used for escorts and call girls. Save yourself the time and effort of going out to impress golddiggers and other people as shallow as yourself and just have the babes come to you.

How about the fact that it sounds like a vacuum cleaner? There are lots of other reasons to buy a base 911 over this, but that's a pretty big one for me.

1.
complaining about GTR's stiff ride is getting stale, like dating a model and complaining about how she uses her silverware
2. again, people that bought the GTR, know it has a DSG, thats all there is to that, grow up
3. all supercars have low spoilers and front lips, c;mon seriously, grow up
4. you bought a GTR, any supercar will have high maintenence costs, trust me
5. the only people i see driving Lambos are 50's tear olds and euro trash, the GTR is like garlic to them, so therefore you are not a douche when driving one, instantly making people in the know, know you, know cars..
stop trolling, all these writers are trolling lately, c;mon how can anyone hate having to drive the GTR?

Now that we're on the everyday supercar topic again, there are only two choices.
Audi RS6 avant.
Audi R8 5.2.
If It is something I could actually afford to buy and service,
Corvette Z51 supsension, 6 speed manual.

This list was pretty true for me. The ride was stiff but I new that before I got the car. The high maintenance costs were just becoming more clear as I took possesion, plus all of the potential tranny issues made me quite nervous. I would have rather had an R8 or 911 Turbo but for the price...$76,540 it was an amazing car. cheers.

Spot on, poster...
I listed clunky (and often wrong) transmission, uninvolving to drive, severe weight, and maintenance as my reasons I sold the GTR.
It also kept the wrong crowd.
After selling I drove the F360 and F430, but didnt buy either as they were so underpowered vs the GTR.
Next up - Scud?

I must be from the playstation generation, or it could be because I've been living and breathing Nissan for most of my life since my Dad was head of manufacturing in Clayton, Victoria, Australia.
The R35 GT-R looks amazing in Gran Turismo 5, but even more spectactular in real life. In red, silver or black. In black it just looks like a lean-mean fighting machine that eats Porsches for breakfast.
All those gripes, are meaningless to me, the car just does it.

I'm getting tired of hearing that sports cars are sports cars. Can we have some real responses? Perhaps IL needs to hire people that know a sports car is a sports car and have those people write the blogs? If you have a full family and wish for a mini-van, then you need not apply. Lets get some journalists who know the benefits and limitations of a sports car rather than whine about them.
