You know, it is nice to not have to go to a gas station.

Interesting notes in Autoweek on 'infrastructure problems' faced by the Mini E in NJ:

It's also nice to get 300+ miles range after only down 5 minutes instead of 80 miles after a whole night...

You should put a challenger's gas cap door on this thing just for the irony!

I think the bigger problem our infastructure faces are 5 to 6 of these cars, MINI E, LEAF, Volt, whichever, plugged in within close proximity of each other, say a culdesac. At the same time they are pulling up to 50amps each continously. The grid is not designed to handle that.

The grid needs to keep pace, NJ for one, is no where near that as for most of the US.

cneff, the grid can handle it just fine as long as you turn your AC off. Hope you don't mind sweating a little.

Thank you Donna for yet another useless post. You're the best.

^ Seriously lay off the useless posts stuff a empty post is better than no post.

@brn Do you honestly think Americans will shut off their A/C to charge their car? I personally doubt it.

Now to the actual post.

Donna think about the hard working clerks that suffer because you don't go the gas station.
Of course if you blow out the neighborhood transformer then in that case I see you making up for it by giving the power guys work.

I hope I'll end up in this week's What You Said entry.

That sounds good, until you realize you can't buy jerky and a Red Bull in your garage. :)

It's nice to NOT have the plug in the wall and the cord strung along the ground the entire time the car is parked. It's nice to NOT have to hear the very loud battery cooling fan come into your house through the walls the entire time the car is plugged-in. It's nice to NOT have a charging battery heat your already-hot garage. It's nice to drive to a gas station where they have compressed air and a squeegee. It's nice to drive more than 30 miles away from your house and not wonder if you'll make it back. It's nice to go to Vegas once in awhile. It's nice to have a backseat. It's nice go on errands and side trips on your way home from work. It's nice to drive the car in very hot or very cold weather. It's nice to calculate your own fuel consumption because you know how much fuel you pumped into the car and how far you drove. It's nice to know EXACTLY how much you paid for that fuel, too. It's nice to pay far, far less than $50,000 for a no-compromise compact.
