This is where our long-term 2009 Mazda 6 insisted it was located all weekend.

That is all.

Unless you were taking a car ferry to Hawaii, I'd say the situation had not improved. Did someone make another service appointment for this?

Well then I'm glad I got the 6i Sport :-) 6spd manual of course.

are they shipping the replacement parts from japan via sailboat?

jriz says:

Actually, they're shipping it via another Mazda 6 since they're apparently seaworthy.

Jacques Cousteau voice-- It has been three months since our navigation system has worked properly. We seem to be going nowhere or even in circles. The POI button is broken. We cannot find any sunken ships or even a reefer bar. The crew is upset.

All is not lost however. The gaps around the sunroof have proven tight and well made.

I can just picture a day when people are so dependent on these systems that when they break they will be totally clueless about how to get anywhere.

" So Mom, I can't come home.. my nav system is broken and I have no clue where I live"

It is sad to see the Mazda has been kinda trouble prone. I read the other day that Kia had overtaken them in sales.......zoom zoom or not, a car has to be reliable. The problems have not been major, but would still have irritated me.

Maybe it's just located a long-lost Japanese submarine.

I'll expect 2 more posts on this before anyone actually takes it in to be fixed. The problem might the cause of the dealers install or the navi itself.

Seems like something was awry with this entire navi system from the start, with all the problems its been having. Ask the dealer to switch out the whole unit.

eclogite says:

Nice. Is this problem unique to the Mazda6 or do other Mazda navi systems have this issue?

saxdogg says:

Could it not be something as simple as a GPS antenna coming unplugged?

This would've made a great caption picture for Friday:

Technology. Making life easier.

"Recalculating route..."

The great thing about Mazda's new nav system is that it doubles as a fish finder. Unfortunately, the design team overlooked the small matter of sea-worthiness.

Anyone know a good salvage company?

Again I wonder what is the crush depth of a Mazda 6?

"Swim with the Fishes"? Hello Garmin, I'm keeping my NUVI 765 with Bluetooth.

I do have to state that my first generation Garmin tried to take me from the Ferry Building in San Franciso to San Anselmo via Alcatraz. Problem was, as those of you who live in Northern California know, that there is no bridge.

Time for a dip!

seems to me the problem is not with the nav system, but with the people who would waste money on useless technology like this! isn't half the fun of having a "fun to drive" car taking the long route when possible anyway?? if i need to know how to get somewhere, i'll consult an atlas, or better yet read the roadsigns my taxes paid for.
