I always think of this episode of Top Gear when I daydream about how I'd really like to drive our 2009 Nissan GT-R (jump ahead in the video to 5:54 to see the moment the GT-R gives Jeremy Clarkson whiplash).
But it's not as if there's anywhere around here to drive like that legally, and it's not like I really have the skills to drive like that in the first place. In any case, I was lucky enough to score the Nissan GT-R this weekend and am now imagining the possibilities -- something that would make a nice blog post on Monday. Last-minute road trip? Roll up to some douche-y Hollywood clubs? Video another editor driving it on some kick-ass road?
What would you do if you had the GT-R for the weekend?

If i had the GT-R for a weekend, I would take it to the dealer and let them break it before I could.

Find the first guy willing to trade it for something more reliable like a 308... or hell I'd splurge and try to find a guy willing to trade it for a 355 Spyder.
OR I'd just try not to break it again which is even more challenging than driving the GT-R really fast.

I'd try my hardest not to get my license taken away

I drive it around thinking I look cool just like all the other GT-R owners.

I'd be Attacking every bit of asphalt, being generally reckless and dangerous to society....and activating launch control as often as possible :D

I gotta say the black looks great. The car looks better when it's going round the track and not standing still.

I'd go and crunch up all the tarmac in the San Gabriel Mountains. Lots of twisty roads there, fun!
You know, La Canada/Flintridge, and then on to Palsmdale or something.

Find the longest tunnel you can and race into it with the windows down and just the sound will change you in some small but profound way.

Honestly, (disregard my last answer)there is this onramp near my house (Warren Road Merging on the Highway towards Towson, for all you Baltimorians). The onramp is about 3 miles long, and it essentially a straight, flat, smooth ramp. It is two lanes for a good 1.5 miles.
Anyways, every time I drive on it, I race. It's busy, and there's always competition (Last Week: 2004 Impala SS (That is faster than i Thought), Jeep GC SRT-8, 2009 BMW M3 Convert, Prius, Sentra, Durango, Etc).
I would just love to hang near that ramp all day and just race people. It truly is an adrenaline rush, hitting triple digits with somebody tailing you.
I have 265hp, and the fastest I have been able to get on it was 122. I'm sure with the GT-R, I could get at least 137.
**There's never cops either (Knowing that I just said that, I will get pulled over on it tomorrow)

I would drive directly to the closest Nissan dealer and park it. I don't like being stranded.

I'd make tracks to an HPDE- preferably at the Glen, Mid Ohio, RA, Sebring, or Infineon.

I would clear my calendar for the weekend, and take her canyon carving in the foothills, video crew in tote. Maybe have a Corvette for lunch on the way.

Funny, the only thing I saw break down on that video was Jeremy Clarkson....

I find it ironic that someone posting as "roadburner" wants to take it to the track. :D But that's also the best suggestion.

Wow. A lot of GT-R haters in here.
If I had three full days I would take my family to the beach (I have a two year-old, she'll fit in the back) friday and saturday. Then the track on sunday.
