We all know the GT-R has motor. And grip. And crazy maintenance issues. But did you know that it's got some serious air conditioning? American truck strong. GM strong. (If you're not aware, GM is widely recognized as having some seriously strong air conditioning. There have been fights after hot track days re who gets to leave in the GM.)
I was out in the desert cruising around (more on that later) for a good five hours in temps raging from a breezy 105 to this max reading of 120. The A/C blew cold and strong, and the temp gauge stayed static. Frankly, I was expecting more, or any, drama.

definitely took me more than a second to realize this post was referring to temperature :)

So what speed are you doing to cruise at 2750 RPM in 6th gear?

Maybe the oil-temp gauge is malfunctioning. Sorry, I couldn't resist. ;)

THE DICE ARE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They have been in the Mazda Mazda 6, Audi S5, BMW 750i and the Nissan GT-R.
Whose idea was it to get these dice???

Ditch the stupid dice. They are the sharpest thing in the photo and distracting in general.
Also it looks like the temperature gauge is not exactly dead center on the gauge... tsk, tsk, Nissan needs to study Audi's gauges.

What oftech said; bad positioning.

Looks bad, but picks up radar from that direction without flaw.

Mike does it pick up the rear signals too?
I have mine mounted about 6-7 inches from the bottom of my rear view mirror, which is pretty much a little bit above the middle of the windshield on my 3 series and it picks up the signals perfectly from all sides (especially those pesky state troopers who try to sneak up from behind)

You were doing 164 at about 5900 rpm in a previous post. That's about 76 mph.

2750 rpm / 27.2 mph/rpm = 101 mph

High-mounted radar detectors are easily visible and make the cops look for a reason to pull you over. That being said, my V1 sits right in front of me on top if the IP and it has no problems whatsoever picking up signals from any direction - even behind. (On my other vehicle, the V1 is mounted in the center of the dash - I have not noticed a difference in alerts at the supposed "better location.")

"Mike does it pick up the rear signals too?" Very well sitting there on the center. I was surprised. I usually like mine mounted somewhere at the top, but this setup worked like a charm.
And as for the speed: 76 was the closest (The car was going 80). Math is all well and good assuming, of course, that the original reading was correct and that it's a linear / accurate gauge. Trouble is, stock speedos are usually terribly inaccurate after, say, 90-100mph and generally are reading high and the faster you go, the more they're off.

SWEEET! The best radar detector!!! I have mine mounted on the driver side of the rear view mirror. Visual issues? Hopefully the "man" shouldn't be that close to see the thing. I have had mine for maybe 16 years and it's a champ!!! And it's been the highest rated device since it's inception.
The manufacturer offers a wireless version that's conceals the device.

msdaisy: Um the one in the dash or the one I spoke of? Will go with the later. And not sure if Edmund's wants to me to advertise a non-paying client/advertiser (although I'm happy to oblige since the VALENTINE ONE radar detector is such a phenomenal device.) Or those in the know...it's the V1! Cheers
