2008 Nissan GT-R: Who Cares?

COW.jpgGT_R-FE.jpg

I discovered this feature on the GT-R's multi-function display while toggling through its 11 screens this morning. And as I watched the instantaneous fuel economy display scroll up and down through single digits, this not-so-profound thought occurred to me: Who cares?

At least something actually works on the car...

Amen. It has one of the most powerful non-racing engines of its type in the world, and I can't imagine Mr. Jacquot is all that easy on the throttle. Same thing for fuel efficiency claim of the new Ferrari 458. Really? You're buying a $200,000 toy you're only going to use occasionally.

Reminds me of another car site's 'lows' for a certain V8 powered sedan - "gulps fuel when pressed". No kidding? Find me a fun car that DOESN'T gulp fuel when pressed. Even the Prius, when driven hard, is rather poor on fuel economy!

If you're using it as a daily driver, I can see watching that screen.

C'mon if they got rid of that screen there would only be 10 screen choices... you've got to take it to 11!

Who cares?

I guess the one paying the gas bill does, in this case it's the CFO of Edmunds.com...

I had that same thought regarding this post.

If you can afford a GT-R and the maintenance then 6 mpg is hardly worth considering.

I think at this point, that title should go on every post for this car.

Why do the pages change from numbers to letters, shouldn't page 'A' be page '5'?

@drinkduff
Page 1-4 are user customizable screens. Screens A-G are Manufacturer Set for specific information display.

Am I the only who who *likes* a car that provides information to you? Or are you all about driving without water/oil temperature gauges now, too?

misterfusion says:

Agreed jkp1187 -- and this is certainly better than the Mattel fuel gauge in the instrument panel.

It's better than growing "leaves".
