Our 2009 Nissan GT-R has my all-time favorite steering wheel.
Everything about it fits my hands perfectly. I love the way the perforated leather feels at the grips, the paddles are well within reach of my girl fingers, and the audio controls are convenient. And, of course, it helps me pilot the beast.
I think this car was made for me.
What do you like in a steering wheel?

It looks big. I like a big steering wheel.

I like a thick, smaller diameter steering wheel.
I greatly prefer leather that has good attention to where the seams land, and easy to reach and use audio and cruise control buttons.
Tilt and telescope is a preferred as well.

Yeah, What's with the dice? Are you pimps?

A three spoke design with cruise/audio controls and soft leather that is tightly wrapped with visible stitching. Just like the one in my Subaru

@carguy622: that's how I feel, as well. Being tall, with most of that height in my legs, the telescope is NEVER enough for me. I also have somewhat large hands, so I could go for a wheel that is thicker than any I have used so far. I think that taking the MINI's leather steering wheel and making it about 30% thicker would be perfect for me. Basically, a go kart wheel is ideal. :)
I wonder if they could make adjustable-thickness steering wheels (would be better than heated steering wheels). OK, forget I mentioned it.

nealibob,
BMW's sport-package equipped cars are supposed to have very thick steering wheels. Have you driven any of them?

@carfreak8394: I actually have a sport-package 335i and I am very happy with the wheel. I still sometimes think I would like a thicker wheel, but this is the best I have had. And, after spending the last week driving an Opel Corsa (apparently Enterprise feels that's "equivalent" to a Fiesta) around Ireland, it feels like the best wheel ever made.

Think S2000/Civic Si.

I concur, a thicker, smaller diameter steering wheel is much appreciated. A wide range of for tilt and telescoping is always great.
hondaacura4, I agree. The Si steering wheel is a nice one.
I know a lot of people feel differently, but I like flat bottom steering wheels like in the R8 and the new GTI. Something about the look of them that appeals to me.

crowb: I like the flat bottomed wheels in the R8 and GTI too. I've never driven one, so I can't say I need it, but it looks cool.
hondacura4: Never driven those either, but I imagine the wheel in my Miata is pretty close. Now, whenever I drive the TSX the wheel feels too thin. The aluminum and leather shifter is perfect though ;)

The wheel in my G35 looks very much like this one, and I like it. Telescoping is a must-have feature. I don't know if my legs are too long, or my arms are too short, but I need that adjustment to get comfortable!

As simple as it is, good finger ridges on the back of a wheel make all the difference for me.
Nothing worse than getting into a car that looks like it has a great steering wheel, only to wrap your hands around it and feel nothing but smooth leather on the backside. Irritating.
The best steering wheel I've ever laid my hands on was the 98-02 Honda Accord wheel. Felt like it was molded around my hand.
Give me well-spaced finger ridges!!

I like steering wheels that have a small diameter and the spokes must be perfectly at the 9 and 3 positions for my thumbs.

The steering wheel in my Z4 M Coupe is just about perfect - thick, smaller than usual, easy to reach controls, with tilt and telescope functions. The only change I'd make - and I know many sneer at this - would be for a flat-bottom, like on the Audi R8. No, it doesn't help on the track, but provides a bit more leg room on long trips where you're not turning the wheel constantly.

I love that steering wheel too. It reminds me of the steering wheel i had in my modded 240. I had a quick release on that one though. :) http://www.momousa.com/products/products/steering-wheels/millenium.html

The standard leather-wrapped steering wheel in my '04 Mz6 is one of my favorites out of the few cars i've driven ('09 CTS, A4, 328). In fact, one of the few things I dislike about my G37 is its steering wheel -- the supposed leath wrap feels cheap, rubbery, and unpleasant.
