The 370Z features the same iPod interface found in all Nissans and Infinitis that feature its current navigation system. This is my favorite iPod interface -- yes, including Sync. Here's how it works.

Very well done- much better than Honda/Acura's which doesn't even offer the touch screen. Also like the scroll knob as well.

Can you play iPod video and watch it on the Nav screen?

There is one HUGE problem with this iPod interface that drives me crazy. But I'm saving it for my own blog once I get my hands on this car.

Is the GT-R's iPod interface the same?

It is a good one - I'm starting to see cracks in the Sync armor

Are there any control functions locked out or limited while driving?

Quote from spen1818:

Most likely it will be disabled when the car is in motion like the one in the G37. Heaven forbid some doofus gets into an accident then blames NISSAN for allowing him to be distracted while operating a motor vehicle.....

Regarding the GT-R: the menu structure is the same, but the knob has been miniaturized and isn't located underneath the nav screen.
None of the control functions seem to be locked out while driving.

And those would be what?
I mean don't get me wrong Infiniti's interface is far easier to use than the vast majority of luxury and non luxury vehicles on the road. The fact that you can access via touchscreen, a very easy to use wheel with buttons and steering wheel controls only makes it better.
That said SYNC has the capability to stream stereo bluetooth, can provide vehicle health reports, dial 911 in the even of an airbag deployment, provide directions and IMO is just as easy to use as Infiniti's interface.

The 370Z I'm driving tonight is identical to the FX-50.

"It is a good one - I'm starting to see cracks in the Sync armor" redux
Having the three separate control options does make the Nissan/Infiniti iPod interface one of the best available, imo. And the steering-wheel control is hands-down the best, although I still prefer Sync's voice control ... when it works, which is way more often than Nissan/Infiniti's. Or any other automaker's for that matter.

Late to the game with my comment but agreed - I've had a G35xS with the iPod I/F in use for a year and a half...No other mfr's system touches Nissan/Infiniti...plus the easy access to the iPod in the center console. ALL the car makes need to start realizing the shift in Gen III iPods to 5 volt (USB) charging only, however. I use a Gen II Nano so that the 12V system will charge the iPod as well (important if you leave it in the car 24/7)...
