As you can see from the various shots above, our Mazda 6 is a well-built sedan. I searched inside and out for a panel that wasn't lined up or a piece of trim hanging out of place and I couldn't find one. I even checked the now infamous sunroof crease and it looked pretty tight too. Good to see at 15,000 miles, nice job Flat Rock plant.

Mazda does piece the interior and exterior panels together extremely well. Now If they just got those 1st year bugs down to a minimum..

My 04 Mazda6 with 75K miles is fitted together just as nicely. Good work Mazda.

This is evidence that we shouldn't trust those Ontarioans to build our cars, what with the Flex full of holes and the Camaro full of broken transmissions.
We need to pull our resources back across the border to Michigan, set up border patrol complete with guard dogs and a continent long fence!
Go Michigan! Look at this high grade Michiganian craftsmanship!

Too bad IL has had a bunch of other problems with the car.

Someone figure out if the Fusion's sunroof looks like this Mazda 6 or has the gap like the Flex.

The paint on my '08 Miata is terrible. I'm surprised the 6 is holding up so well. I have the Copper Red metallic and it scratched at the slightest provocation. It's paper thin. I know Mazda wanted to keep the weight of the Miata down but this is ridiculous ;)

Your comment is a gross generalization. "Bunch of Problems"?
The bad Nav screen and broken seat adjustment are about the only problems I would blame on Mazda Quality. The broken console cubby latch and plastic covering the undercarriage was probably due to man handling.
What other "bunch" are you referring to?

Not *absolutely* everything lines up, as Bryn pointed out here:

All this despite some mild pond hopping at high speed!

This is something Mazda has always done very well. The trim pieces in my 6 fit together flawlessly, with no rattles after 60k miles. Mazda's "finish" might not always be top notch, but the "fit" is hard to beat.

Yeah our the only thing I don't particularly like about oour 06 Mz5 is the interior plastics (which I have to put in perspective considering we paid 18,000 for a well-designed and incredibly practical car). However the "fit" is spot on. Every gap is perfectly aligned and spaced. Despite the lower quality palstics the fit certainly makes me feel like care went into the design and assembly.
My MS3 exhibits the same perfect fit but interior materials that are of a much higher quality.

For the record, GM's Oshawa, Ontario plant is ranked very high vis a vis the competition.
