2009 Suzuki SX4: Jam It

jammed

Sometimes, to get this Recaro kid seat to fit properly (it's the tallest child safety seat in the universe), I have to remove a car's rear headrest because it doesn't allow the back of the Recaro to sit even remotely flush with the seatback. But occasionally -- as seen here in the SX4 -- the head restraint isn't removable, and I end up having to cram the Recaro underneath the maxed-out head restraint to get it all to fit. This is why it's so important to take your child safety seat(s) with you when you test-drive a car.

Perhaps the tendency to make wild allusions is in the air (re: Van Eyck in the M3 http://blogs.edmunds.com/roadtests/2009/06/2009-bmw-m3-jan-van-eyck.html#comments)

...but for some reason, the shape of the SX4's headrest when extended that far out instantly reminded me of one of those droid's heads from the newer Star Wars movies. Random.

You should be able to remove the headrests.

Then again, my guess is anyone who buys one of these probably doesn't even care about the safety of their kids- I wouldn't put mine in a Suzuki!

@mikeloan

You wouldn't put your kids in a Suzuki??? The SX4 gets the highest crash score from the IIHS for front AND side-impact protection...

They head rests are most likely removable if you tilt the seat forward(like when you are folding it flat)to allow more room for the head rest to extend.

check the owners manual. There should be a small pinhole size hole that when pressed in removes the head rest.

mikeolan has some huge beef with Suzuki and will take every chance to show it.

@jason25 : Great! That doesn't do me much good if I'm stuck on the side of the road with Suzuki's poor rep for reliability. Of course, if you're one of those people who think cruise control is just frilly gingerbread like Firstwagon, Suzukis are great cars! They even come with a steering wheel!

@jason25

See what I mean. You showed he was wrong about safety so he switched to reliablity. I had previously given a number of examples of how reliable Suzukis are so for some strange reason he digs up a comment I made long ago about how cruise control is not an essential feature on basic economy cars.

I'm not sure I understand the connection.

@firstwagon

To be fair, that's just one of your MANY comments I find relevant in discussing your perspective of the automobiles on this site, and how you also believed a steering wheel can prevent 100% of crashes. That's the connection- just as someone with 4 kids sees a minivan as ideal transportation, someone who thinks cruise control isn't necessary in a modern automobile thinks a Suzuki is fine transportation. That's the connection.

I believe you have a stalker. He has files and everything.
