I did it. I think I'm the first adult to have gone for a ride in the backseat of our 2009 Nissan GT-R. Editor Dan's kids, Scott O.'s kids and, I think, Karl's kids have sat back there and all editors have said that adults don't fit. But I've lived to tell about it; and yes, they do. OK, it probably helped that I'm short, 5'5".
But, it actually wasn't that bad. And I was sitting behind someone who's 5'9". But they had enough room for their legs and my knees weren't pressed against the back of their seat. Sure, when I leaned back my head was touching glass and I could look up and see the sky but it wasn't cramped back there. Definitely cozy. And I can fit my hand through the holes in the seat and poke the person sitting in front of me.
Not saying that I'd agree to a long road trip (I'd get car sick from the harsh ride), or even a ride cross town back there, but I wouldn't complain during a quick trip to the store.

How does the massive Bose Speaker in the center sound?

I wouldn't mind going back there. I am smaller than you, so I don't think it would be that bad. Nor do I think I would get tired of the blistering acceleration. ;)

adavis2493,
Good point. When I was back there the radio was on but the driver likes to keep the volume low so I didn't notice it.
caheew,
I only want to experience the blistering acceleration in the driver seat and, if not there, then in the passenger seat. But in the backseat you can't really see anything.

Well I don't have my drivers license yet (I am only 16 and I can't afford insurance), so the passanger seat is all I can get. :'(

Luckily I have short friends... I couldn't pull it off as I'm 11 inches taller than you Caroline and get claustrophobic in the back seat of my 2003 Neon. I'll keep that in mind when I can pick up a five year old 2009 GT-R on the cheap.

How's the material quality of that big sea of ugly plastic on the sides?

I had three six-footers (including myself) and a five-foot-two-er in the GT-R awhile back, and we drove around for a solid hour with no real complaints.

At least the car has ONE cupholder in the back.
I was forced to ride in the backseat of my dad's Mustang last night, and we're both 5'9'. I was pretty comfortable but I almost hit my head on the back window and there were no cupholders back there, which was annoying.

What are you talking about carfreak? The Mustang has a backseat cupholder every time you climb in.

Huh? Is that supposed to be a joke?

If at 5'5" you hit your head on the glass, then I assume my 6'2" frame would be mighty cramped back there! Still, 2 small seats are better then not at all. Its just like my MINI - I'd treat it as a 2+2.

I sat back there, it doesn't feel any worse then a G35/G37 coupe, which is ok for a coupe. Who cares about the back seats of a GTR anyway, if I want to carry people or sit in the back, I'll drive my Lexus LS.
