In the latest installment of the Twilight Desk, we have a belated report of service we had done on our 2009 Infiniti FX50 at just over 7,500 miles, mere days before Erin took the FX50 S to Napa (where I took this picture).
We had the service done at Nissan of Santa Monica-- Infiniti of Santa Monica was on the verge of closing down at the time, they're closed now-- and there was no wait for an appointment.
The 7,500 mile service totaled $122.67 with tax and that included an oil change (10W30), tire rotation, visual inspections, fluids and torquing of all suspension components. The next service is due at 15,000 miles and we're already knocking on that door. Promise to get that one up in a more timely manner.
Total Cost: 122.67
Days out of Service: 0

Hmm - I've always wondered what manufacturers' policies were on luxury brands servicing core brands and vice-versa. Might be an interesting post, Mike, or article for Edmunds.com...

Roar02ram: I've been to a lot of dealers and there's very little difference between luxury and non luxury. Generally just decor.
Now the real difference is WHERE you go. Go anywhere in Beverly Hills and they know you expect service be it a BMW or a Buick.
Nissan of Santa Monica, being a GT-R service center, gets it. We keep going back because we've been treated right regardless if we brought in an Infiniti FX50, GT-R or Versa. The trick is really to find a shop you trust regardless of the fancy sign and leather couches.

Why did this cost twice as much as the Challenger's service? One reason why I am leery of luxury imports. Unless you buy a BMW you get raped on the service costs.

100ish is about right. I pay about the same for my CTS service.

Why did your beloved CTS's service cost twice as much as the Challenger's?

I guess that's a reason to be leery of luxury domestics too?
If you're going to be biased against imports you should at least use some logic.
