Here's a look at the rear of the Flex Limited. The concept car for the Flex used this nice metallic looking treatment too but how close do you think the Flex is to the original Fairlane Concept from 2005?
Check out the Concept version after the jump...
I think Ford stayed pretty true to the original idea - what do you think? Does it even matter or do most people forget the concept version by the time the real car goes on sale?

I like the concept vehicles height. It looks slightly Range Roverish. It's like the designers of the production version squished it down too much.

They don't call them suicide doors for nothing....

I think most people buying a vehicle like the flex don't even know about the concept. Just like a doubt many people would know about the Accord Coupe concept. There may be plenty of piston head Flex and Accord owners but the vast majority are not.

I think most people, except automotive journalists, don't care all that much about concepts. I understand they have their place in the automotive world, but I grow tired of seeing endlessly ridiculously concepts that will never happen. At least the Flex concept was realistic.

Yeah, I forget the concept after the real one goes on sale.

It's closer than the Volt Concept, to what the Volt will look like.

People need to be careful what they wish for when it comes to concept cars. Let's take the Camaro for example... usually people bitch and cry when concepts are "watered down" for production but GM kept the Camaro almost exactly the same as the concept complete with the ridiculous visibility that will likely be hard to live with. Does it look great? Sure but it doesn't seem all that practicle of a design for the real world.

+1 chavis, I am usually pretty forgiving on cars quirks, but the Camaro would not be fun to live with day in and day out, and I love GM cars.

When will production of the Funkmaster Flex begin?

On that note, Edmunds said they were eventually going to add a Camaro to the LT fleet. I hope they get on this soon because I'm on the fence deciding if the poor visibility and other compromises is something I could live with.

Funkmaster showed off a Flex at the 2009 SEMA show but I don't know if Ford plans to offer the package. The 2008 Funkmaster Flex package was for the Expedition, but the Flex is an obvious choice, both because of the name and because it's a more reasonable vehicle for many people--although I'm not sure reason is part of the Funkmaster appeal.

Given that the production Flex was meant to have sliding mini-van rear doors, I couldn't be happier with what they chose to put on the road.
