I've seen a few here in Jersey - seeing more and more. The most interesting one was a metallic light blue ("ice blue") with a couple of long boards on the roof - a pretty cool looking surf wagon.

We leased a full loaded Limited AWD, Cinnamon with the white top in Dec 08 (0% lease rate and employee pricing at the time) and love it. We traded in our 2007 CR-V.

Seeing more and more on the roads in our area as of late, all color combos....we have 2 kids and it is a great family-road trip car.

Our color combo has a very classic look to it...turns lots of heads.

I am not a domestic fanboy. I am not a minivan kinda guy either.

But this is a genuinely GOOD vehicle. When I have kids & their stuff to cart around, this would probably be the one.

The exterior is stylish & nice in the Ruro sense (atleast to me, since style is very subjective). Interior is tastefully done with good materials. Good engine & decent mileage.

I was never a D2.5 supporter & haven't bought a domestic in my life. But if Ford continues this kind of good engineering effort, then they have won them a customer.

And now, bring on the Fiesta & Euro Mondeo & Focus dammit!!

(And death to the current ugly Focus. Amen.)

I drove one to and from a dealership for a car show at my university (interesting that the dealer let an 18-year-old drive a $30k vehicle without even taking my name down). I was impressed with the solid apparent build quality, simple control layout, and smooth ride. It had adequate power and was quite quiet. Getting on the freeway, I was going 80 before I even got on the accelerator -- the car (wagon? van?) was very composed and stable at highway speeds.

We even fit 8 people in it on the way back to the dealer (some salespeople helped take cars to the school, and needed to get back to the dealer). The rear seat was comfy, even with 3 people in it.

I wouldn't buy one of these now, but if I were looking into a people mover and didn't want an SUV, I'd definitely consider an ecoboost Flex.

Also, Edmunds needs to try and fit more than 8 people in it.

Do people stare at it when they see it driving down the road?

I have had the chance to sit in a few and they seam every bit of a solidly built car. I have not seen many here in Houston, but the numbers keep growing.

and yes, it does hold a considerable amount of presence on the road...I do it every time I see one...lol

The majority of the ones I've seen in Austin have been sitting at the Covert Ford dealership.

There is one that's all black running around, though, just like yours, and they took the hearse idea one step further and put the chrome bars on the back windows. Always good for a laugh whenever I see it. There's also one in a light blue with white top that I think is pretty attractive.

There are actually two of them in my parking garage at work--one is a more "loaded" version (I'm guessing it's a Limited) and it's the cinnamon/white roof combo. There's another one, an SEL, that's all white (I like that one the best). So many in one place; perhaps it's the employee discount my company gets at the local Ford dealer?

It looks smaller in person.

If I could get any car in the world right now for my daily kid hauler, I'd get a Flex. Comfort, great ride, slightly evil looks - it's got everything I want. And the kids get excited when actualsize brings this car home and want to go places for no reason.

Mind would be black. I like that it looks like a hearse. I'm a closet goth.

Sorry, that last post was supposed to be from me!

Considering this replaced the Windstar I would like to hear how it does taking over the duties of a minivan. Minivans are extremely versatile vehicles and would be accepted a lot more readily if it weren't for the stigma they bear. In the same vein a Dodge GC comparo wouldn't be a bad idea.

Has the Flex been compared to a minivan directly yet to highlight it's supposed superiority over the mommy-mobile?

I think I see on average more than one per day here in north east Los Angeles. There's a black-with-white-roof one that goes the opposite direction of my commute.

I have no use for one (married, no kids), but I'm definitely a fan. I'd recommend it to pretty much anyone.

Really, I feel sorry for Ford in that they launched a great, totally worth it, $35k++ vehicle in a recession.

The good news is, SUVs are less and less desirable to be seen in, so whenever the economy turns around this could be a big seller.

Saw a red fire with white roof and...I want one exactly like it. My F-150 has the red fire paint too and I have not seen any other car company with the exact same shade of red paint. Looks really good in sunset or sun rise. The black one around here really does look like a hearse..too morbid for me. A light blue one with a white roof did not really attract me, maybe bec. it was pretty dusty at that time, but also made the car look a bit too big. An all white one looked good. I don't know if Ford has a special deal with a paint company but they seem to have a set of unique palettes that other car companies don't have at the moment.
