2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X MR: Another Good Day

It was our turn to help out with Meals on Wheels again. This time we took along the Evo MR. Not the biggest trunk in the world, but we chose it based on its navigation system.

The split screen on the nav was very helpful. We had the full view of the map on the right, with a close-up of our route instructions on the left. The nav lady's voice is much more soothing than the officious woman in the Audi A4 we took along last time.

The trunk was a little cramped but we managed just fine. The back of the Evo is much easier to lift than the heavy door of the A4.

And with the 291-horsepower turbocharged engine, we completed our route in record time. Met lots of nice people again, too.

It was a good day.

Small trunk but more useful then you might think?

^ nah, it's puny. I accept the fact that even my Civic FD1 (JDM Civic, current generation since 06) with a huge subwoofer and amp in the boot can swallow considerably more than my X.

As for the satnav, I am a huge fan of the MMCS interface too. Whilst the 'memory points' is a bit awkward, I felt that the split screen design where left side shows overall map, and right side can either show instructions or a very zoomed in map of the next intersection (with your car icon on it too!) to be extremely helpful. Only downside is the lady voice which can be either too quiet or too loud (when you have music on then the music volume reduction feature is not adequate; or with no music, it doesn't adjust the volume and it can be quite loud!). I do like the little touches how the voice is only heard through the driver's speaker/tweeter though.
