2009 Dodge Challenger R/T: Putting Miles Behind Us

milestone-banner.jpg dodge-challenger-tag-555.jpg

5,000 miles on the Challenger and counting.

What have we done with those miles? Let's take a little retrospective of our time with the 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T

dodge-challenger-odo.jpg We met some originals  and took it to a Festival of LXs .

We carted around our kids.

We lamented the lack of a hand brake and were grateful for Hill Start Assist.

We went from keyless to key.

We strapped it to a dyno.

We got up close and personal with the suspension.

And of course, we took it for some burgers, burgers, and more burgers.

What haven't we done? We haven't had any problems. Knock on wood.

What should we do next?

disable the skip-shift feature
take it to the track, both drag strip and road course

Well, this is a nice contrast to the Grand Failavan. Maybe Chrysler, like GM, was able to launch some real nice products made it out before circumstances caught up to them.

I really don't think the wheels and tires look bad. I'm very much not on board with this whole "dubs" trend. I wish I could get an SS Camaro with smaller than 20 inch wheels.

I agree with KingKhalas!

Project Challenger FTW!!

Give us more technical data on the design of the vehicle. Like the stuff about the suspension.
How about that HEMI? It made the Top 10 Engines list. Why?

Take it to the track! Come on!! It's a freaking muscle car! Take it to the track. Pretty please.

Paint some stripes to make it go faster :P

On a different note, wow that speedometer looks horrible; reminds me of a bathroom weight-scale.

Find a drive-in movie theater playing Vanishing Point.

I just put the Eibach Pro Spring Kit on my R/T.
Dropped 1.7 inches, and it looks "Off the Hook!!!"
Handles better too. By the way She has the 20 Chrome.

Having never driven a vehicle with skip-shift -- it sounds ridiculous -- I'd like to see a review of that.

How about a penetrating expose´ on different modern cars with throttle-by-wire and how they stack up when it comes to throttle response lag?

What am I talking about? Think about it in a similar way to turbo-lag. From a standing-stop at idle, what is the subtle moment of time that exists in all of the electronic controls involved between the point of pushing in the pedal and the point where the engine actually imparts a good tug of the vehicle into motion?

This could be a little difficult to isolate for manual trans cars, naturally. So I'm not sure how you would handle that. I think it would be an interesting story, though.

...maybe the test could be modified such that it is done at a rolling start at idle speed?

I think a vanishing point(esque) road trip would be great. As Chrysler as we know it is really disappearing before our eyes. Maybe reliving some of the glory days would do this car some justice. I would say skip the bulldozers though:)
