I love that our Suzuki SX4 Crossover has satellite radio. Kid Space Live has saved my fanny more than once on a cranky drive home from day care with a toddler who's had a long day. I just wish that the SX4's radio display screen gave me more than 10 characters of information about the artist or song that's being played. The Toddler asks, "Who is singing this song, mommy?" I reply, "Dinosaur R-something, um, I'm not sure what they're called."
I realize that they've got limited real estate on the screen, but there's space for a couple more characters on there, don't you think? I recall systems in other cars with similarly limited space giving you the option of pushing a button or turning a knob to scroll through the rest of the text, but I couldn't find the same functionality in our SX4. Obviously, it's not a problem unless I'm broadening my horizons and listening to a genre of music I'm not already familiar with. Guess I'll just stick to First Wave.

Hi Guys,
I have Kia with Sirius and it has an option to have the scrolling turned on or off buried in the menus of the stereo (but not so deep I had to break out the owner's manual). It's not so much "scrolling" as "show the first part of the name, and then show the second part."

When I had an 05 G35, the Bose system did the same thing. I wish it would have scrolled. That stereo display was awful for a vehicle like that.

Exactly. The kid needs to learn who Siouxsie and the Banshees are. (Damn I miss having Sirius...)
But it's weird that the display doesn't scroll. Even the GM corporate head unit in my car shows all of the RDS text by alternating the displayed text in the manner described by Neatnick above.

The display does scroll. You need to press and hold the button with the rectangles on it with "disp" printed over the top of it. It will scroll to the next part of the title. Press the button without holding it and it will show the album, press again for the artist, again to turn it off completely and again to return to the track name. I do wish that the screen were bigger to show more info at the same time; perhaps we'll bet this withthe facelift? I think that's what happened with the 09 Grand Viatara...

I meant to type Grand Vitara - not something that looks so much like Viagra at first glance!

Odd that the display doesn't simply display the rest of the text in a second line.
The Subies I've driven simply scroll through the text piece by piece, trying to display whole words whenever possible.

My MINI display also only shows the first bit of the song name. It may scroll, but I've never figured out how to get it to.

My 03 Chrysler Corp. head unit constantly scrolls through RDS with song name-artist-station ID, and keeps time stationary on the right. Definitly like wasted real estate here in this application. Is there another display with a clock somewhere?

My car doesn't have a song display. What are you complaining about?
