I noticed this weekend that our long-term SX4's airbag/seatbelt warning light came on and stayed on. At first I thought it was sensing my heavier-than-necessary laptop bag, so pushed the bag to the floor. But nope, the light still glared at me from the instrument panel, all red and warn-y. That's when I realized that there's a separate warning light at the top of the center stack for the passenger airbag warning light. The one pictured (just above the odometer) is the more general "something's up with the airbags and/or seatbelts" light. We'll get it checked out and report back on what was causing it. Stay tuned.

The MINI has the same arrangement, though I'm not 100% sure if the gauge cluster light will stay on if there is an airbag malfunction.

You can see the backdrops of a lot of warning indicators in the gauges. You'd think they could forgo the big PRND32L and stuff it into the Odo screen to free up some space for a more percise airbag and seatbelt warning.

nahhh, just ignore it. You'll be fine.
Are there any cars that don't break when you guys get ahold of them.

helios1: that exclamation point at the end of your comment compels me to do as you say, even though it feels weird answering a question like this in a blog comment. I'm a woman. How about you?

My mom's 2005 Matrix had that same light since we got it (4 months ago).
The guy we bought it from said it was in a small accident (not severe enough to set off the airbags, just redid the bodywork around the left-front headlight and replaced the headlight).
In the manual, it says that this light could mean there's a problem with airbags and/or seat pre-tentioners.
We didn't get it checked out yet...
I would like to see what they say when you guys take the SX4 to get it checked out.
