2008 Audi R8: Visibility

I can see clearly now the rain is gone. The Audi R8 has incredible visibility for such a low riding car with a huge engine in the back window.

This 40-second video shows you out the front and side windows and into the mirrors.

You really can drive the Audi R8 as an every day ride. It's an incredible supercar that is as comfortable and easy to handle as any normal car.

I sure didn't expect the view out the back to be that good! Very impressive.

Next time start it up!

But I agree, incredible to see that kind of visibility from a car with that kind of performance.

Ahh, the Esplanade. Really nice place to hang out. If you continue the drive to Palos Verdes, there is actually a really good 'Italian' sandwich/lunch/coffee place on (I think) Yarmouth road. It's just up from the market. Lots of motorbikes and nice cars hanging out front.

Good Visibility
AWD
Safe (I'm Assuming)
Reasonable Ground Clearance
Fast

Have we found ourselves a supercar that is somewhat functional and versatile???

Nice video, and nice visibility, too. I see you were using a Flip Mino :P.

It looks like the side mirrors and the rear mirror view overlap quite a bit, so I'm assuming there's the normal blind spot on both sides just behind the B-pillar.

If you look at the graphic, it seems like the mirrors are in the "Too Narrow" category.

I once did an ammature (very ammature) photoshoot of my car on that exact same spot.

is that a "S" in the rearview mirror or a "$"?

nice beach. Do they make a roof rack for the R8 so you can carry a surfboard?

The video illustrates your point well. I'd love to sit in one and see how it is for someone who is 6'2".

So you are saying that despite the large engine IN THE BACK, front and side visibility is great. Go figure!!!!!!

Actually, I was showing you the visibility from the driver seat, including the rear view mirror. You can see much more out the back window of the Audi R8 than you can some of the other cars in our fleet. It's a beautifully designed car, not just for looks, but also for usability.

That's 40 seconds of my life I won't get back...
Just kidding. I WANT ONE! Audi's have been known as the benchmark for which all interiors should be based on. Add together the performance of this car, and you have indeed found supercar status.

Oh and tmanz, the answer to your quesiton is...yes.
Watch your money go south. But worth every penny.

"It's an incredible supercar that is as comfortable and easy to handle as any normal car."

And yet priced such that only a very, very, very small portion of our driving populace can afford it. Great!

The R8 is a high-end sports car, sure - but a supercar?
