About two years ago I wrote a full test of the Suzuki SX4 and thought it was charming.
Well, it hasn't changed much for 2009. It could still use more power for its weight. Merging onto the freeway is less than spectacular. But once it gets going, it's fine. It's more than adequate for skipping around town running errands. And with the rear seats folded, you get 54 cubic feet of cargo space.
I think it's cute as hell, especially in Vapor Blue Metallic.

it needs the manual transmission to get more out of the engine

Haven't driven the SX4 yet but it already looks much more appealing than the Kia Rondo that it replaced.

Factory turbo upgrade will help you accelerate onto the freeway.

You guys should have gotten that manual! The SX4 is a really cool car for northerners because is provides utility and price of a subcompact but has a really cool 4WD system.

Again, Edmunds didn't have a choice in the equipment of this car. The car was assigned to Edmunds for the test.
Then again, if they can afford to buy a Ford GT, they can afford a Suzuki.

being that most of the buyers will likely choose the auto, I think it's appropriate that Edmunds review the auto tranny. some of us are tired of rowing gears in bumper to bumper traffic during rush hour.

Not all of us live in LA. Lots of us rarely drive in bumper to bumper traffic.
If I did, I would take the train to work and leave the car for the weekends.

I never knew that... thanks. I thought they just ordered or requested what model and trim level they wanted.

The GT is Karls personal vehicle, no?
I think the auto is a fine choice for it. It looks good in that picture. I'm not sure I'd ever choose this color, but I can see why others would.

The GT was in the long-term fleet for a while, and then Karl acquired the car for his weekend getaways. (;
