2008 Mitsubishi Evo GSR: Road Race Engineering Knows Evos

rre garage 555.jpg

I think we picked the right place to have our Long-Term 2008 Evo GSR worked on. The Cosworth cam install is happening just off-camera to the left here in Road Race Engineering's garage, and there are still more Mitsubishis to the right .

And then there's the parking lot outside...

Just be careful where you park:

It's too bad the Rim of the World rally doesn't exist anymore. :(

I guess that means I can park my WRX there! :o)

Haha that sign is great. And look at all the evos in all of their glory... (drools)

By the way you should make you evo something like this:

I know it's an older one but I'm pretty sure that would destroy a GT-R (in a straight line anyways).

I thought you guys were looking at keeping it streetable? There's nothing streetable about a big-lobed cam that requires constant throttle at idle.

With the right cam(s), you can get more power and retain streetability. There's usually different stages of lobe aggression that manufacturers put out, with the highest recommended for track-use only.

I know the newest Evolution is a better car than the previous in just about all areas (the 4G63 is still stronger vs the current engine offering)but for some reason I still prefer the last generation.

The Cosworth cams they are putting in are a street cam that idle near stock. It is not a big loped cam with tons of overlap by any means. But they provide a solid 30whp bump in power.

While I love the look of the current Evo X, I really do like the look of the previous Evo's as well. They looked awful as just the Lancer trim, but once the spoiler and various skirts/diffusers were added, they look pretty muscley.
