It's an impressive brushless car wash that can get that thing clean. Surely that had to run it through twice?
By the way, everyone else seems to have gone to photography school and using new SLR's. From the EIC we get what, a camera phone? :P

It was a good trip, nice to hear about some weather other then hot and sunny.

it usually doesn't take too much to wash salt off... unless you've waited until summer to clean it off and it gets baked into the clearcoat

"Excuse me ma'am. Is this your car? Would you mind coming back to the manager's office? We have to re-wash it." Gone in 60 Seconds, 1974
What you don't see in the picture is the first step in this "brushless" car wash: Two or three guys with soapy brushes and towels give each car a scrubbing to get the big chunks off. There's an aspect of hand wash going on here.

So end result, the X5 is a much better road tripper than the CTS?

^ Basically the best vehicle of all time would have the X5's comfortable seating arrangements in a CTS body (for better fuel economy) and the Caddy's navi.

Reading about all your road trips makes me want to go on one myself, except i'm broke and i've got a Saturn Ion... *weeps*

I like this car and the statement it makes about where GM is headed but....severe cramping of calf and back??? Shouldn't a Cadillac take a little better care of its driver on a road trip?
Am I the only one that thinks that cars should go through something like the spray section in the picture before the guys use the brushes and towels on what's usually a bone dry car? There has to be some abrasion there....can almost hear it happening. I guess that's where all those fine scratches in the clearcoat come from. When possible, I've tried to hit a u-wash type place first to use their pressure rinse first.
How did the truck fare? How about the physical condition if its driver?

@ Carnage:
A saturn ion? I would suggest not taking a road trip. Ever. And maybe biking to work.

I finally found out which makes this car so attractive- its the stance. I can't really describe it, but the car looks really wide, and low, plus that big grill which really makes it look like it's in your face. The red coat of paint is just a compliment of the design.

At least it's clean now.

I agree, there is something about it that it striking, but for some reason Australians think it's butt-ugly. I was reading an article on a Aussie website about the importation of this to Australia (now put on hold due to the global meltdown) and all the blogger responses were utterly negative. I know it may not be everyone's taste, but are we seeing something they aren't? I know Caddy has no real significant historic value there, but their cars are far from beautiful or significant worldwide. And please spare me the G8 crap for comparison.

@frank908 Although Aussies build some great cars, their style is crap.
