On my drive home last night, I kept a careful eye on the Mazda's display. The stripe got worse.
After about 30 minutes of driving, the fluctuating stripe became a solid stripe. When I shut the car off then started it back up, the stripe went away for a moment then returned full force. Perhaps it has something to do with heat in the system. I tend to agree with y'all that it's a bad screen and not something to do with a connection or program.

No i did'nt know that,thanks for clearing that up. if thats the case then why does this screen look soooo fugly?looks exactly like those TFT screens on ebay. NASTY!!

Huh... that is really odd... You should probably run it back to Mazda this weekend and see what they can do about it. That should never happen. But enough with the LCD glitches... how's the car doing? And how does it compare with the first gen?

Unfortunatetly, I see a long line of posts about how the 6 still has the red bar to it. Much like the Hyundai without a horn that we kept reading about.

Maybe someone at Edmunds that has been in several different models lately can tell us if beyond the red stripe is it worse than the other cars displays? Or just not the greatest photos of it.

you mean beyond the display? I guess they at least had one post that talked about the brakes an steering, but no comparison to how the old one drove, no seat comfort comments, road noise, get up and go comparison.

It's not a glitch at all. It just means you've powered up your special move. Honk the horn twice and you'll shoot a fireball at the Prius holding up traffic ahead of you.

Yep, they all seem to be busy in the new FX50. But I guess if the worst thing about the 6 is that red bar then it must be pretty good?
