They spelled your last name wrong! F41L!
I thought the Evo GSR already has an aftermarket intake. Is this one better, Jay?
From http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/LongTerm/articleId=134106/pageId=150982:
"Moe showed up with a car that had a lot of modifications already in place. Installed by AMS Performance, a tuning specialist in Chicago, the laundry list of equipment included: a front-mounted intercooler ($699); upper intercooler pipe ($295); cold air intake ($285); and an ECU reflash ($495) that optimizes the fuel, timing and ignition mapping while still maintaining the proper safety margin to keep our engine from exploding. To keep all eyes on us — including those of our friends who drive around in cars with big light bars on the roof — also included was a totally bitchin' AMS turbo cat-back exhaust ($685). It's not raspy or whiny like some other aftermarket systems; it's just loud and we love it. (Well, some of us love it.)"

Yup, the car has a CAI on it. The AEM one's different in several ways, and we'll show how.

Sweet! Looking forward to the mods. I think you'll be amazed at how much more efficient a car runs when it has good equipment.

Oww wow. Edmunds does have money to burn, so you bought one intake, only to buy another? I'm sorry from all my readings of various cars. The difference between any intake of decent quality. Is the dyno its tested on.

Just curious about the ECU reflash. Was the tuning based on the weather conditions in Chicago or projected for SoCal use? Because if it was set for Chicago that might pose a bit of a problem.

Intakes are a great way to get cheap performance, I think.

I had an AEM CAI on my SRT-4. Very nice piece of equipment-- good looking, too. Someone ended up hitting me and twisted the CAI due to frame damage so I ended up getting a custom piece, but I miss having the C.A.R.B. exempt sticker on the new one.

Will this make the car even louder?

I'd really like to see some AST shocks and/or Vorshlag camber plates on that puppy.

Intakes are very car specific. Alot of Subaru turbocharged engines are not power-limited on the intake end until their stock power is increased by 25-30%.
My 06 Civic SI, a 2.0 liter naturally aspirated engine, can gain like 5% more power across a wide range of powerband from a good CAI.

@louiswei-- it was on my car. Not the exhaust itself, but you could hear a definite turbine sound and whoosh from the turbo when I'd peg the throttle.

Looking forward to see what else is done to the car
