I was a little concerned this morning when I hopped into our long-term 2005 Jetta TDI. The gas (er, diesel) gauge was registering a shade under 3/8 of a tank. I had to drive to Irvine for a press event -- that's about 57 miles each way. And as Caroline discovered recently, the B99 biodiesel our Jetta drinks these days is kind of hard to come by if you venture outside of L.A.
Guess I was being a little paranoid.

3/8 of a tank in this car to go 120 miles -- no problemo!
My TDI will go 200-250 miles on that amount of fuel - that's roughly 5.5 gallons, or more, depending on the accuracy of the fuel gage, which probably varies a bit from car to car.

Great post. It's like playing those games where you have to pick out all the difference between two images.

Sometimes my gas gauge will read a little low when the car is first started in the morning. Might have something to do with the cold.

I find that my 2004 Golf TDIs take a long time to use up the first half of the needle, but the last half goes much faster. As a result, I use the trip odometer as a better indicator of how much further I can go. That being said, 120 miles is cake for even a little gas.

For the same reason Pontiac angles the stereo/centre console to the driver? Its all about the driver.
