2009 Nissan GT-R: It's All a Blur, Really

Blurry-dash.jpg

It appears that our GT-R is back on form. Thanks to a little help from our Escort 9500i radar detector it set down a nice baseline for future OC to Vegas time trials yesterday morning. How does 266.3 miles in two hours and 54 minutes sound?

Actually, we did nothing of the sort. Only irresponsible hacks who care little about the safety of others would do something like that. So cool it with the comments.

Here's something that surprised us: The GT-R yielded 17.2 mpg over the run through the desert. Got 21.8 on the way home.

Not too bad, really.

Lies! It would have been more believable to say that the road became a closed-off track.

Ahh got to love long exposure times...

The first pictures really shows how many different pieces are illuminated. Nice touch Nissan for toggling the TC, Trans and Suspension switch LEDs red and green. Never knew the green was there before.

Yeah right, you just thought about doing time trial, or maybe you did it hypothetically, but then how do you explain 17.2 mpg when going to Vegas vs 21.8 mpg when coming back? Maybe the winds?

Winds are a big factor. I've seen 35 mpg to Vegas and 30 back. Also have "enjoyed" getting batted by a 40 - 50 mph sideways canyon wind in middle of desert at 10 pm at night (good way to get car sandblasted).

Josh,

I'm curious to know how the front end is holding up with the road trips and testing? Did you guys have the front end covered with the clear bra? If not, are you seeing many rock chips in the front end?

Paint on the front end is fine.

Right. The only risk to our GT-R's paint is a mechanic dropping his wrench.
