2008 Scion xB: I Had No Idea Illuminated Cupholders Were This Cool

omgthebottleissopretty.jpg

A couple nights ago I was busy being all mundane and I treated myself to a bottle of Clearly Canadian (I absolutely love this beverage). The previous driver of our 2008 Scion xB had evidently set the illuminated cupholders to blue, and when I set the bottle down, this is what I saw: Unspeakable beauty.

And at that moment, this scene made me like our xB just a little bit more. If we were all in Europe and could drive around in Renault Kangoos and Fiat Multiplas, the Scion xB would probably be pretty unremarkable. But in the U.S., it's a pretty neat package -- huge space and a reasonably cool shape for not much money. Indeed, the interior is plasticky and the driving experience rather dull, but if you think of it like a utility van, this matters a bit less.

Can you get UV lights in those? Black light makes tonic water glow blue, it's awesome. (Yes, I drink tonic water by itself...)

I thought the donkey post was the end of the XB... I'm glad it wasn't! This one just mAy be at 28.8k miles...

So do these lights help the XB with "darkness" as was posted before?

Further evidence that little things in a car's interior can make a big difference. It's the things we see and touch every day that leave the most lasting impression - and send subtle and not-so-subtle messages about whether we'll stick with this same manufacturer the next time out.

The '09 Forester has blue LED's for rear, but not front, cupholders.
Interesting way to light a car interior though!

Dear God. I hope that doesn't say $7.49 a Bottle!

"they still make clearly canadian?"

+1, I didn't know that.

I think interior lighting like this is a cool feature, but I wish I could turn it off in my MINI. Anything to help find cupholders in the dark is a good thing.
