2008 Hyundai Veracruz: Perfect For the Back Door Man

door-sized.jpg

This photo is proof that the full-size back door and frame I bought for my house this morning fit in our long-term 2008 Hyundai Veracruz. I had a hard time believing it myself. For the record, I did have to shove the passenger seat as far forward as possible, but the rear door did close for the 15 mile drive home from the door store.

Lets see my beloved BMW X5 do that.

Did you manage to get it in and out without shredding the interior?

I think he was talking about the classic Doors song. Or at least that's what I'm hoping.

You are a brave soul putting a rough door into an suv. I am with johnmarco on this, what did your interior look like after you dragged that door into and out of the poor Veracruz? I'd rather rent a pick up truck at U-Haul for this type of duty!

agh, are you people kidding me? you would rent a u-haul to bring home a door rather than put it in your Hyundai SUV? Seriously, what the hells the point of buying an SUV then? First, who cares if the back of the folded down seats gets a scuff mark or two? Second, it's not like its hard to load something without tearing up the car. I've hauled everything sheets of plywood to PVC to a load of pavestones in the back of my SUV...that's kinda the whole point right?

He put a piece of cardboard under it. With a little forethought you can haul a lot of things without doing damage to your car. Many years ago I brought home a steel backyard swingset in my '77 accord hatchback with zero damage to the interior.

Geez yooz guys are young.

A back door man refers to a scoundrel high-tailing it outta there via the back door as the unwitting husband comes home through the front door from a hard days work.

Secondly, cobryson is spot on with his "what the hells the point of buying an SUV" comment. If you don't haul stuff in it, on it, and sticking out of it, why not just get a little peepee sedan and hope you have a manly friend or two who will loan you a vehicle that can do the job?

Third, there is this great invention out there, known for centuries by a secret society of people who move other people for a living. The invention: moving blankets, and you can get a pair of brand-spanking new quilted moving blankets at Costco for around $20. These dual-purpose wonders not only protect your precious interior, they even protect the item you are moving!

Oh yes please take the Hyuandai to pick up doors. The X5 would much rather not. LOL!

You ladies and gentlemen editors of IL are spoiled, even for using a Hyundai SUV to carry around that door :)

It's 2008. We should all be very open and comfortable about using the back door.

That's definitely not what she said...
