2007 Toyota Tundra: How Fast Will She Go?

Tundra-speedo.jpg

This is as fast as our 2007 Toyota Tundra will go. Hits some sort of fuel cut off, probably because of the speed rating of its tires. Sucks considering our long-term Dodge Grand Caravan will do 113 mph.

This top speed test was completed on a closed course. Thank you!

Scott, while you are at it, it'll be nice to know the top speed of all the LT vehicles.

How do those two handle at triple digit speeds, anyways?

Was the cruise control on at that speed, or did the light just happen to be on.

Why does it suck that the Grand Caravan will go slightly faster?

When would you ever come up with even a single reason to drive either one that fast?

The gearing seems awfully short if it is pulling 5K rpm in top gear, with a redline of what looks like 5800rpm.

Our old Mazda Tribute also had an electronic limiter at 108 MPH, though it indicated a little over 110 at that speed.

does the tundra have an instant fuel economy indicator? if so, what was the consumption at top speed?

Not sure anyone will ever need more than 90. Maybe 100 if you're really trying to get yourself out of a "pack" in the middle of nowhere with an 80 mph speed limit. But very interesting nonetheless.

Passenger vehicles should be electronically limited to 90 mph max.
I don't know about Montana, but in Texas the max speed limit sign is 80 mph somewhere on I-10.

Billt9, but what about track days. Not everyone can buy a dedicated sports car. I can see such a low speed limit for trucks and other utility vehicles, but to limit, say, a Camaro to that speed would screw all the people who bought it to get groceries on the weekdays and blast along the track on weekends.

Yeah, my Ford Excursion has a governor on her also, its limited to 97 MPH, but my Jeep Wrangler does not have one, she gets all the way up to 100 MPH. Don't really go that fast in the Jeep for obvious reasons, but on long trips in the Excursion, I'll peg the governor a few times for a few moments.

It's either the skill of the photographer or the Tundra outright runs smoother at 110 than the R8 does at 120.

Or, it could be there was more time to focus on the Tunda speedo pic seeing as it was on a closed course and there was no need to scan the horizon for fellow travelers or for johnny law while snapping the photo.

bal169, it's a Toyota suspension. It's as smooth at 108 mph as it is at 0 mph. You feel nothing.

I have a 2007 Tundra and i got it up to 116-118, depending when the gas cut-off kicked in.
