2007 Chevrolet Silverado LT: Blowin' In The Wind(ow)

I left the office late last night heading down Wilshire when I noticed a whistling sound. The last time I drove the Silverado the transmission blew up on me. I was worried. After listening intently I noticed the back window was slightly ajar. I didn't even know this thing had a back window!

Relieved, I pulled over to close it. It was then I noticed it wasn't mechanical, but powered. Where was the switch? I searched and searched but I couldn't find it. RTFM? Yes, I reverted to the manual.

There it was, located above the overhead light. I had scanned over the area several times but never made the connection. I felt pretty dumb, like I had been searching the house for my keys only to find I was holding them all along.

The switch is in the same place in the F-150, basically directly above the center stack.

I'm getting old and I didn't even know it! A power rear window slider on a truck? That seems a bit... foo-foo, doesn't it? Not very truck-like IMHO.

I thought so too, at first, but remember this is the extended cab, or whatever they call it. I wouldn't want a manual sliding window unless I could reach it from the driver's seat.

I've opted for a rear slider in my last 4 trucks. They've all been manually operated and I like having them in the truck. But, Hightower's point is valid...I have a 37" sleeve length and the seat bottom all the way back and I can just operate the slider in my extra cab Frontier from the drivers seat. If the truck was any bigger, the powered option would be the way to go - trucklike or not.

BTW Scott - don't run with this open if there's any trace of dirt, sand, mulch etc in the bed. With the gate up, most of it will find its way into the interior above a certain speed. The best way (IMO) to enjoy these windows is if you've got a tonneau cover in place - then it doesn't matter what's been in the bed.

I had this on an 01 Ford Sport Trac. It was powered, and I used it on a regular basis. Its a good way to get some air into the cabin.

hello...hello...hello
Man, does anybody even drive this thing anymore?
Hey Scott. Knock the dust off the hood and empty your wallet for some dead dino juice and give some up to date info. Or should I assume ye ole Silverado has fallen into the dark corner of the closet with your platform shoes?
